  • Intervention

I may be in need of an "intervention". My wife loves bags,...hand bags, shoulder bags...she has a nice collection. I have to admit I think she has good taste and generally believe it's a harmless addiction. However, I'm afraid it may be contagious...I just bought a product because I liked a bag I could get for it. The shame of it...I just wanted to try out a new thermos bottle. One of the double wall, stainless ones on the market now. I read reviews, did my homework. I found performance levels to be close between some models I was interested in. I was just about to pull the trigger on the least expensive of those when I saw this bag for the most expensive of them. Darn it, quickly checking other bags, I couldn't find anything I liked better. Now, I know the bag would probably work on the other bottles, but...but, they wrote that it was designed for the premium bottle....must have...couldn't resist.
So here is my new Hydro Flask, 64 ounce growler:

    ...and the damn bag:

I have to say I am pleased with both. The bag fits perfectly, seems well made, and has metal hardware.
The bottle is all it was advertised to be. Filled it with some water and ice, then hit the range. Left it on the front seat of my truck in sunny, 100+ degree weather for about three hours and still had ice in the water. Back home, I left it on the sofa and checked when the water and ice had been in the bottle 7 hours and there was still some ice. 12 hours, no ice but the water still very cold. 24 hours, water is still refreshingly cool. I'm liking it
    A lost soul,

Thats nice. Anything with multiple zippers and pockets is a must have. My personal weaknesses is backpacks (small bug out type) and it looks like I could incorporate that bottle and bag with a nice pack so I think you got a good one.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

That's an awesome bag. Cool setup. I can see where you wouldn't be able to resist something like that.

Did you get one for the wife too? Hmmmm?

Off topic, as a person who has only driven through Arizona once (1981, transferred to San Diego Navy Base), what are those bean pods on the hood of the vehicle? What kind of tree has such a thing?

For some reason, the thought of Pavel Chekov saying that popped into my head when I read it..."I hate to see such a fine wessel go to waste"

Thanks! I did ask her if she wanted one, but she said she is happy with her own water bottles and bags...I think she doesn't trust my fashion sense.

Those are bean pods of the Mesquite tree. Thank you for your service to our country!

That sir, is a very fine set up. The wife and I pound the water every day, and have found over the years, that stainless is the way to go as far as keeping your water cold.

We have a couple of those SS double wall bottles - made by Sub-Zero - hold 20 ounces & keep ice all day outside in hot temps. Don't have a carry bag for them, just some wraparound Velcro "koozies". They usually stay in the car when we're out & about.:

This is a mesquite tree in the garden area behind the Alamo:

I can TOTALLY relate to that. I'm reminded often of how I have no fashon sense. To me fashon consist of all pants are denim, all shoes are leather boots (natural color of course ) or tennis shoes, all shirts are cotton tee shirts, all heads need a ball caps or cowboy hats, and the color of field gear IS NOT pink or lavender (or fushia what ever color that is.)

Those mesquite trees are rough. I lived in Texas years ago and those thorns tear up some 3 wheeler tires.
