Blem model # with Z prefix?

I ordered a blem K9 from Bud's, but my ffl rejected it because the model # isn't on the CA DOJ list of approved. Instead of the approved model "K9093", it's marked "ZK9093". Same exact firearm, of course, but the model # change is a red-flag no-go.

I thought blems carried a "b" stamp somewhere near the trigger, but otherwise had a standard, conforming model #.
Bud's had this labeled as a CA approved model, and they're offering to refund my money, of course, but I just want the firearm.
Has the model # for blems always carried a "z" prefix, or is this a change from Kahr?

Is there anyone out there who purchased a blem k9 who can confirm whether or not the model has a "z" prefix, or who knows what the labeling convention is/has been at the factory?

Pretty sure it's a Z, but regardless of whether it's a Z or a 2, the question I have is whether Kahr has always identified its blems with a different model #.
If they have, then presumably no one in California is buying blems, because only the stock model #s are on the DOJ allowable list, so I'll have to buy a non-blem, either used or new.
But if anyone knows whether Kahr ships non-model-changed blems, then I can probably poke around and find a new blem that conforms to the CA DOJ list.
So, the question remains: is there anyone out there with a Kahr blem, who'd be willing to check the model # imprinted on the firearm, and tell me whether or not it carries a prefix letter that indicates it's a blem?
I'm planning on calling Kahr, but I'd like to have more information at-hand when I talk to customer service to forestall a bit of the runaround, if possible.

In the past the box has been marked with the model number followed by the word BLEM. The gun itself had a B marked on the trigger guard of metal framed guns. Poly framed may be different, (I don't own a poly/blem).

Don't know what Z means. It isn't noted on the web page for Kahr markings.

Yep, if CA can't ban guns constitutionally, they'll do it another way. Fees from manufacturers for listing firearms is just another method.

I recently purchased a K9 Elite 03 Blem from Bud's. The gun is described on my invoice from Bud's as follows: KAHR K9 ELITE 2003 9MM 3.5 SUB COM CA LEG BLEM. The description would seem to suggest that it is CA legal. The Bud's model # on the description when I purchased mine was also "ZK9093".

To the best of my knowledge, the model #, such as "K9098", or "ZK9098" is not imprinted anywhere on the actual gun, at least not that I can find on mine. The sticker that was applied to the side of the hard case that my gun came in identifies it as "K9098A" along with the serial #; however there is another sticker on the top of the case that identifies it as "ZK9098" along with the serial #.

As I have noted in my review, neither I or my FFL could find any defect or blemish on the gun, and nowhere on the gun, either inside or out, could I find a "B" or any other mark that would have identified it as a blem. Here is my review:

I've been travelling in the Rockies with limited cell access, so my info was incomplete.
I talked to the ffl today - there's no model # on the firearm. Rather, the situation is exactly as shlike described: the box bears a Bud's label with SN & z-prefixed model #. On that basis, the ffl rejected it and returned it to Bud's (this is one of the 'green-listed' ffls on Bud's site, and this was my first experience with him).
It's in transit back to Bud's, due there on Wednesday, so I'll pick this back up with them then.
