  • Just a picture of a fireball from a K40

I am aware that everything about this picture is a negative as far as ballistics and night vision go. I'm just posting it because it looks neat to me. Take notice of how close the houses crept up on my range. A development went in and everyone of the homeowners signed something stating that the range is there and they agree not to try to close it down. That lasted about a year until they all got together and petitioned for our closure. The club had to spend literally all of its annual money on legal fees. Luckily we won but will be no improvements for a while. We're finally getting back on track. I can only think of one homeowner on the lane that is a member. to get the picture my wife simply recorded me using an iPhone 5 and then we frozen on the frame and took a snapshot.

That's pretty neat! Thanks for sharing the photo
The .40 does seem to light'em up. A few years back, Wynn posted some some similar photos taken of his P40 in action:

Thank you, glad to share. When I first saw the pictures in that other thread I thought the target lines were trails. Great shots though.

Cool....and some people worry that Magnaporting gives to much flash!

The powder used in the ammo is the most important factor. Some are REALLY bright... and some are really low flash.

I've tried the Mag-na-ported P40, the new P40 and the new P40 with the Kahr ported barrel. The ones from Kahr that I use in my P9 and my P40 show less flash than Mag-na-porting by projecting the flash forward and up... not much more flash than the standard barrel, but perhaps a bit less recoil or rise from recoil, than the standard barrel.

I've been slow to get my ported barrel pictures posted here... Thanksgiving and my son as a guest, but just as he got home, he found that his mother is in an ICU with terminal stage COPD. She's very much alive, but her lungs are finished... and he's the one to decide her medical treatment. We've been kind of on hold for a member of our family... ready to rush off to Southern Illinois, but still awaiting word from my son.

I prefer the ported barrel from Kahr and will post some stills soon from test with my P40. I've also been testing my new P45 and kind of wishing that Kahr made a ported barrel for it so they all could have the same look.

The flash from the muzzle is so brief that it really doesn't seem to bother my night vision, though I haven't tried shooting in the dark... night time.
