Reminds me of that TV commercial where the bank guard is working and the robbers come in. The bank customer looks at the guard and tells him to do something and the guard replies "I'm not a security guard, I'm a security monitor, I just notify someone if there is a problem." The guard then looks at the robbers and turns to the customer and says "there's a problem."

Come to think of it, the human race has been on its own, self defense-wise, since Cain and Able. It's only been the last hundred or so years that we've given away our safety to the government. What were we thinking?

Are you sure those are metal detectors? They would beep with every person's belt buckle, glasses, pens, orthodontic braces, and on and on. If they don't, then why don't airports have metal detectors that are as good as movie theaters? They need X-ray machines and wands in addition to the main metal detector.

5/3 Bank has a device you walk through that specifically searches for what it thinks are guns. It's in a vestibule and it locks the door to the lobby if it thinks you're armed. That's the only way to prevent an armed person to enter.

Yep, and if you noticed in my post, they are mostly a deterrent. At times, there is a guard walking around (typically in plain clothes) a hat is probably looking for body language in reaction to the detectors. It may be that they are not detectors, but rather a placebo, deterrent system. Several are, however, the same as the ones at the courthouse and concert venues that I frequent...though they tend to have uniformed officers in accompaniment with a wand in hand to scan over patrons.

if you are talking U.S of A yeah but people have been running to the protection of the monarchy or oligarchy for ages.

Almost can't remember the last time I went through a metal detector. Given reasonable choice I shun such places as use them. Almost wrt our county Sheriff's department/Justice Center. Went there to renew my carry permit.
