The closest I can get is a red dot only carbine. But it’s funny you brought that up because I have been pondering a bare bones light as possible Non-SBR AR-15. I’d love to have one at around 5 pounds even. Nothing but iron sights.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I put a Hogue rubber grip and a rubber butt pad on mine, and a red dot, and that's it.

You may still be correct after this reply, since I can hardly get my dad to reply to a text, much less join the forum.

However, my dad has that bone-stock AR15 you speak of, and shoots it really, really well. During our discussion about red dot sights, he brought up the skunk he shot through the head with his Winchester 30-30 at 50 yards. He didn’t feel that he needed to be any more accurate than that. I couldn’t find a reason to disagree with him... 😁

          I had a Colt LE6920 MP-B for several years.
Never fired it, never added any "upgrade".
Gifted it NIB to one of my sons two years ago for Christmas.

His brother received my S&W Sport M&P15 (with 150 rounds through it) LNIB and with only a simple Magpul hand guard upgrade.

Ya' know....these last few posts have gots me to thinkin'. I became totally turned off on AR's by them early M16s and have for 50 years steadfastly refused to have anything to do with them or anything else in .5.56/.223....in favor of 7.62x39. Even my Ruger Ranch guns are in .30 caliber.

Now, for some odd reason, I'm feeling the urge to go buy an AR15. Just basic, stock and leave it that way. What the hell? I'm hopin' this will pass. But I'm afraid not....dammit!

              Training Trumps Sights

I've got two lasers and after trying them I took them off.
One red dot on a AK 5.56 pistol that's co-witnessed (it's still on).
My three .308 guns are all iron sights and will stay that way.
Most carry guns run Big Dots.

Yep. Well, sort of. My AR-15 is a stock Bushmaster lower mated to a CAR-15 style upper(11.5" barrel with 5.5" pinned and welded flash hider). Stock trigger, stock furniture(no MLOK or KeyMod), flat top with carry handle, and iron sights.

                No aftermarket trigger. No optics.

                  I like mostly factory guns

I've put brakes on my three .308 guns (all factory iron sights).
The two IWI Galil guns are factory stock except for the brakes.
Zastava M77 PS was a god awful "sporting rifle" with the thumb hole stock and thread protector spot welded on
Desperately needed a CNC Warrior Warsaw length folding stock, Hogue pistol grip, Csspecs mags and a Precision Armament brake.
Internals, fire control and sights are all factory
                  Tacticool? I don't think so...

Why does anyone care what other people do or don't put on guns?

I care exactly zero if your gun is bone stock, or you use lights, lasers, range finders, sirens, whistles, cork screw, fishing line, taser, or bayonet on YOUR pistol.

All this talk to me just seems like the Jones' gossiping about the Smiths' down the road, judging about their lawn, or apple tree, or car...

Shouldn't we just be happy people carry?

Them gosh durn Smith's down the road need to keep their dog on a leash so it don't be leaving mine fields on my lawn, had a bellyful I tell ya!

I think it's just conversation lead. Gets quiet around here so we need to chat up something. It is a trend and there are advocates on both sides of the fence, wish the Smiths would stay on their side.

Methinks you be rather mired in holiday blues Scrooge territory at the moment. Hope you get better.
