Was reading an old gun magazine last night and came across this Jeff Cooperism.....The person who is always armed, practices diligently, is capable of shooting proficiently, is always aware of their surroundings and is willing to use their weapon with deadly force to defend themselves or protect their family from harm is the person least likely to ever have to do so.....Words of wisdom from some who knew what he was talking about....Anybody got some others?
" An armed society is a polite society".... Robert A. Heinlein

Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes.......

When I was a kid in the fifties, I read all of Robert Heinlein's SF books and loved them. I didn't know at the time he was a gun enthusiast. He's the one who came up with "There's no such thing as a free lunch" and "An armed society is a polite society".

"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
        - George Washington

        And

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
        - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)

        First post!

Coincidentally I was looking up gun quotes today and these two struck me.
