  • When you sent your Kahr in for service...

... how was it returned to you? Fed-Ex to your FFL? Fed-Ex to your home? Signature required?

And appx how long did it take?

Just wondering. I'm glad to have mine back being fixed, but it's been a little over 2 weeks and I'm just wondering what to expect.

    Thanks!

I'd call and check status on it. Make sure you didn't fall thru the cracks. Seems like everyone has been reporting around 7 day turn around but it might be longer if they are waiting on something. I got a new slide that they had to wait for way way back on my K40.

It should come directly to your house and typically theres no warning, it just shows up. I suspect it would be a signature required deal but I'm not positive. Mine came to the dept so it wasn't an issue.

I'd call, 2 weeks in exercising patience is plenty. They should be able to tell you where they are at and whats happening.

Yes and yes. One week. (at least in my case)

Around a week and definitely requires an adult and signature. You can have FedEx hold it for pickup.

Sometimes, it's nice to be retired and sitting there at the window, though it's amazing how many time the Mail Carrier and FedEx come while I'm "indisposed".

FedEx should be calling and leaving a message for you to expect delivery of a package requiring adult signature. That's your tip that your Kahr is coming back home. I think my door to door turn around time was less than 2 weeks.

Sounds like Wynn needs some adult diapers. Just kidding my brother!

I never got any calls or notices... from anyone... FedEx OR Kahr.

And it's just timing... bad on someone's part.

OK, well for me... none of the above.

                They're shipping to my FFL.

I called, then they called back. My P380 needed a new frame, so they're sending it to my FFL.

                Hoping for the best.

                Thanks guys!

New frame equals new serial number, hence the trip to your FFL. This has been discussed lately and believed it was legal to sent a replacement frame even with a new number but Kahr apparently doesn't do that.

I'm always thought they had to go to a FFL since the new serial number has to be registered, so they let the FFL take care of that.

No matter as long as it gets back to you soon and runs perfectly.

Yup. I understand the reasoning, and I'd exercise the same caution if I was Kahr unless I had specific instruction from BATFE stating otherwise.

                    Fingers crossed!

I wonder if my new frame will be the updated version. I assume it will be?

And on that note: does anyone know the reason they changed the frame design? (one screw vs two) What problem was it intended to fix?

yup sure will be, only change is two torx screws in the side panel #5 torx tool needed. Best never take that panel off either. rememberthose screws thread into polymer, so they never really tighten, just snug is good.

I have had to ship to Sig Sauer twice. On the plus side, they don't fight you on shipping, they simply pick up that cost. They also send an email immediately after they ship. If they shipped two day air today, before 8pm I would know and could anticipate being available to sign. On the downside, they are not as fast as Kahr. Sig seems to be closer to three weeks round trip.

                              New frame means new paperwork

When my first Sig P238 had its frame replaced, I had to go to my FFL. Since it was only three weeks after I bought it from said FFL (Gander Mtn.), they did not charge for doing all the registration paperwork...but, because I did not have my CPL yet, my local PD collected another $10 for notarizing the permit they issued. This was in March of this year.
