  • Two ADs in a row, Gun Show idiots

Seems a fellow had a loaded gun for sale at a gun show. A potential customer had one AD. It was immediately followed by a second AD when the seller/owner also discharged the weapon. Two women and a child hurt.
Seller banned from future Gun Shows.

No decision on charges. Should there be a charge? I think yes.

    TEXT of DETROIT NEWS article:

Two women and a 10-year-old girl were hurt when they were struck by fragments from a gun that was fired during a gun show at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Mt. Clemens this afternoon.

The three were treated at the scene.

A customer thought the gun, a semi-automatic handgun, was unloaded and accidentally fired the weapon. The owner took the gun back and inspected it, firing off a second shot, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. The incident was reported to dispatch at 1:48 p.m.

The owner of the handgun, a 64-year-old man from Marysville, has been banned from any future gun shows at the center.
Authorities are reviewing the information to determine if charges are warranted.

They should both be charged with felony stupid!

That doesn't exist, of course, in criminal law so no charges will be filed. But for once, I'm rooting for the civil penalties system.

I suppose you could wander through the crowd at any gun show, and find a couple of dumb-a$$es, but to get two of them handling the same gun, at the same time, that's pretty rare,......

Wow. The level of fail here is quite high! I think my meter is going to break.

They are quite lucky people got hit "only" by shrapnel and not actual bullets!

Why anyone would accept a gun from anyone and not check it before "dry" firing it is beyond me!

Both the seller and buyer are stupid and careless beyond belief.I`ve never been to a gun show where each firearm wasn`t checked and disabled from firing by the use of cable ties or something of the sort.If that was the case at this particular show, then that means the firing block was gotten rid of and the gun was then intentionally loaded.I don`t believe the word accidental should be applied here.Reckless endangerment seems a more appropriate wording.

Thats the case with our gunshows. Every gun is tied and disabled. Tube mags are removed, autos have no mags on the table. Non members who haven't gone thru a background check aren't allowed to purchase or bring guns in to the show. Members can bring carry pieces in or guns to sell walking around but they are tied at the door. No loaded magazines in either case.
They are pretty strict about it and they have to be. While not PC I do profile and we have a lot of morons wandering our shows.
The press and anti gunners of course eat this stuff up so they try very hard not to let anything like this happen.
They also allow no cameras, is that typical for you guys.

Sound like the shows in GA, but why no cameras?

I think it's mostly them wanting to keep the media from trying to film straw purchases or members. Also people would be able to photograph a gun and get the serial number and then go report it stolen. This usually goes no where since part of a stolen report is proving you owned it in the first place.
Many table holders don't even allow non members to pick up guns. Lots just come to look and handle knowing that they are not going to buy.
I seldom pickup guns unless I'm invited which I usually am, I'm regular enough they know I'm an addict.

No cameras allowed at the Dixie Gun and Knife shows or the C&E shows in NC.

It has been a while since I have been to a gun show. When I am at a gun shop, the first thing I do is open up the gun and check to be sure it is not loaded.

I can almost forgive the first stupid person. As far as I know this is their first time handling a gun or they may be old collector type. They didn't expect to be handed a loaded gun. But right then when it goes off, the first thought is WTF? You put it down and step away.

The Seller/Owner should know their gun. He is not dumb, he is stupid.

The no camera rule brings up a question- do they allow cell phones with cameras?
My wife went to the federal building in Columbia SC a few years ago and they wouldn't let her in with her cell phone since it had a camera...they wouldn't hold it either, she had to walk a couple of blocks back to her car and leave it there then return.
So now she had to walk several blocks in a metro area without her weapon OR her cell phone not good

Oh btw had to edit because cell phone as one word was censored out with the ******** Is that a bad word here
