  • What if in Washington DC there was...

I'm so tired of the political bull out of Washington from BOTH SIDES that I was wondering what if we had in Washington....

People that were there because they loved the country instead of loving to hear their self talk.

People that had the guts to stand up and say we've been spending too much money for a long time and it's gonna stop now. :32:

People that would say yeah it's gonna be painful but we're gonna do it.

People that would say I don't care if I get re-elected or not. We're gonna do what's right.

People that would say if you want a handout move to France.

I'm fed up with all of them. They all lie. Anybody want to add to the list?
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Want to see what will be the end of our country as we know it???

I predict riots about 24 hours after the hand out class figures out that they have stopped.

I expect many people who are indirectly employed by the gov to get unhappy as they lose their jobs.

I expect many people will be upset when latter on when they figure out that their pet project, base....is not happening any more.

I don't see a simple fix for this complex issue. Well, there may be one, but no one really wants it.

I'm afraid that you would have to go back about 230 years to find honorable people like that.

I think you are right. That's exactly what I was thinking when I read CJB's declaration of Independance post on July 4.

Most of the problems if not all of the problems facing our country have been directly related to actions of Congress. Most if not all of those actions are designed to gather votes for reelection. The founding fathers didn't intend for our representatives to make it a career as many have done. All need to be voted out and term limits employed. The golden benefit packages that Congress has voted for themselves should be eliminated. Congress should have to live by the same policies that they impose on the general population.

Some one once said" Democracy is domed to failure as soon as the masses learn to vote them self's money from the treasurer y"
That could be paraphrased= the representative republic is domed to fail as soon as the elected are allowed to by votes with the US Treasury.
If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

When the Government is wrong, it's dangerous to be right!

Be who you are and say what you feel... because those that matter ... don't mind .
.. and those that mind ... don't matter!

I agree, and when you look at how much money these politicians spend to get elected to what is usually a lower paying job than what they had, somthin' ain't right.
I think some are really going in with big ideas of doing good for the folks, but they run into those already filling their pockets with our money, and they get sucked into the same game of taking care of themselves first, and we fall way down on the list.
I don't see any real change in my lifetime,.... hopefully in my son's.

                How about this....

All political contributions are made illegal.

All TV stations have to allow 2 hours each month for the 6 months leading up to elections for debates as a public service for any US elections. States can have their own rules.

Each one is questioned as to why they voted how they did on each bill that they actually showed up to vote for.

Politicians don't get paid if the budget is not balanced every year.

Oh, and their pay raises are voted up or down by public vote.

By the time your son is your age, neither you nor I will recognize the U.S. as the same country we grew up in if things continue in the manner that they are heading. Slow and methodical erosion of the rights of citizens, the industrial base, and value system by the progressive agenda and political correctness have changed our government since the 1960's. It will change it even more unless the public wakes up and puts a stop to it. The Tea Party movement seems to have the right idea and many politicians are taking notice since they value the "vote" more than anything else.

I couldn't have said it better and you are exactly right. The original concept was to serve your country for a few years and then retire back to your business, farm, etc. The idea of a professional politician was not on anyone's radar. Being a libertarian, the idea of artificial limits don't sit well, but in this case I see no other choice. The trick is getting these clowns to vote for something that will put them out of the 'power' business .
