Tweaked my Buckmarks a bit

New grips for my Buckmark Standard (I may get another pair for my Camper):

The Camper was not ignored: Bullseye barrel, adjustable trigger stop and "Heggis flip". I'm still waiting on a different sight base for it.

I like the longer sight plane of the Bullseye barrel so much I might get a similar length one from Tactical Solutions for my UDX Plus. I like the look of this one, but don't know if it is still offered in the matte black (I can find it with satin/gloss black). A stainless Bullseye barrel might work as well. Then again, perhaps I should leave well enough alone.

Nice, Greg. Back in February, I visited my brother in Natchez, MS, and we went to a friend's place where we shot some of my Kahrs and I shot their Buckmarks.
Very nice pistols, but I like more boom and bigger holes... the downside being about 15 or more times expensive a shot! If I lived out in the country where I could do some varmint shooting, something like that or a 1022 would be nice to have.

I need to get my widdle TPH .22 and H&R 922 to the range here... just not as much fun as the P40... three large flashes with each boom!

I generally try to shoot my 22's first at a range session. When I'm shooting my carry guns I shoot those first without preparation so I know if they would work if needed for real and not at the range.

My range visits have been sorely lacking so the 22's usually follow the carry guns but before the other centerfire stuff. Do get a little boring if you shoot the 22 last. But can shooting really be boring?

I tried to pick which Buckmark I liked best but I'm kind of stuck, kind of like the bottom one but I'm sort of partial to the second one, but I like the grips on the first one. I don't think I'm making much progress here.

I've just got a bone-stock Camper, and need to change out the front sight to a fiber-optic so I can see it in my dimly lit indoor range.

I usually start my range session with the Camper, maybe 100 rounds or so... then shoot the other larger caliber pieces... then finish with the Camper if there is time. Great way to work on trigger squeeze and sight picture to iron out the wrinkles after too long between sessions.

Hi Greg,

How does the "Heggis Flip" work for you? I tried and love the trigger weight but have more than usual FTF & Stove Pipes. Original configuration was close to 100% reliable but with the flip I'm down to about 90% maybe less. What do you get?

Actually been awhile (except for this last weekend) that I've actually fired the Buck Mark as my new PM9 took preference. Sure was a lot of bickering on the Ruger Forum as to the pro's and con's of this flip as well as the "safety factor" of auto firing.

I've had excellent results with the flip. The Camper has 500+ rounds through it post flip with out any trigger problems. The UDX Plus is 5000+ rounds without any trigger problems. The Standard didn't show much improvement so I put the spring back to a stock configuration.
In regards to the FTF and stove pipes: I've found that once you remove the sight base, the screws will work loose quite easily if you don't Loctite (blue) them in place. If the screws (especially the front one) are loose, I see stovepipes and FTFs. Tightening the screws always fixes the issues. YMMV.
