  • Deer Huntin'

The Monday after Thanksgiving is Opening day of the Deer Gun Season in Ohio. I'll be sitting in the woods waiting for something that looks tasty to walk by. If it has a large set of antlers that will be a plus. Anyone else chasing Bambi?

My oldest son got his buck this morning in the land of JohnH. (Missouri). He comes home tomorrow so he was running out of time. Got a 3x4.
His first deer so I was kind of proud that he let several go by looking for the biggest. He said not so big on this one but the clock was ticking.

Sounds like lots of deer in that area this year.

I passed on two deer during bow season so I'm looking to get something with my .44 mag or sidelock BP rifle. I HATE FIREARMS OPENING DAY! I generally go out the week after.

Gun season started Saturday for us in Tennessee. I took a doe during muzleloader and my brother got an average buck and then a really nice buck.

We have 3 box blinds set up on the property we lease. I posted pics and info over in the hunting forum on Rimfire Central if you're interested in reading about it.

Yep, lots of meat in the freezer. I'm just hoping he has a brother hangin' around too.

Good luck. I used to hunt with my dad near Sheffield Pa. at a place called Hearts Content. Lot of good memories.

I got up early on Black Friday to do some shopping...........and bagged a nice 9 point buck.

This is my second year hunting and this buck is my largest thus far.

looks like a young buck to, it should be a real tasty. I had some venison while on a european cruise about 2 weeks ago. They told me it came from argentina and it was some of the tastiest meat I had in ages. they must raise deer for human consumption in argentina???
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

We have good grain fed deer in Kansas. I should get me a young un to put in the freezer when I get back in the farmhouse, and get a new freezer. I'd be hunting for meat not trophies, so figured a nice young one would be the way to go. Can't believe in all these years I've lived here I've never went deer hunting. They run up and down the creek all the time, so I'd just find a nice spot for a tree stand and sit up there till something tasty walks by. I figure I could use either my .357 or .44 and it would be good enough for a 20-25 yard shot. We've had bow hunters use the same spot for several years now, and they usually fill their tags. Usually you don't need a license to hunt on your own land, but I think I'd still need a deer tag, or a duck stamp if I was to hunt ducks or geese.

In Kansas Hunt deer on your own land requires a deer tag, a Kansas Hunting License and a min of 80 acres. You will get a reduced price for the tag. Duck hunting or Dove hunting anywhere in Kansas requires a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp plus a Kansas hunting license. Over 65 years of age No Kansas License needed, but other deer tags and duck stamps are still needed.

In Tennessee all that is required for the land owner is to check in the deer that you shot.............and you can do that online from the house if you wish.
