Corbon DPX through bone simulant ballistics

I'm sure most of you have read this but I searched for previous conversations and didn't find much, I thought these tests were thorough enough to to be confident in the results even though it still is a small sample size, just 3 shots of other brands showed unreliable expansion in all but the dpx which looks consistently impressive along with efmj somewhat. Considering the probability of hitting the rib cage I like the results and am stocking up now.

Cor-Bon DPX is my choice for defensive ammo in all my carry weapons. It is expensive but it cycles great in all my semi-autos and most important I am happy with it.

CL - what follows is the data for clothed gelatin
same fields as the bare gelatin, as defined above
avg 2.74 - Average wound volume, clothed and bare gelatin
3.89 re - Free Recoil Energy, assuming a 1.88 lb pistol
0.70 - Average would volume per unit Free Recoil Energy.

Barth are those penetration and expansion numbers averages or hi/low, Does it say anything about consistent reliability of the bullets expansions, I like Dr. Roberts showing the results through 1/4" bone simulation. considering a bad guy standing square, you have an 83% chance of hitting the rib cage/breast plate, I've seen a lot of clothing and bare gelatin tests, this was the first well controlled results I've seen for bone and bullet behavior.

Independent studies are interesting for sure.
And I'm not saying they are invalid.

But for life and death decisions on SD ammo, I'm sticking with the FBI.
Or more specifically U.S. Federal and State Law Enforcement.
Let them spend megabucks on testing and I reap the benefits.

I agree about independent studies, you can't trust anybody putting things out on the internet, I wish we could find some FBI statistics and results for ballistics through bone. I'm sure they have some scientific results using cadavers somewhere!

I, for one, want to see results for much shorter barrels. I wouldn't mind a good study of .380. It's much more important important in short barrels or 380s or both to pick the top ammo, in a full size gun, I'm OK with top 25% scores. Until I see more, I'm shooting Gold Dots in 124 gr or HST in 124 gr.

I'm planning to conduct some tests of my own using live subjects. Would anyone consider volunteering to be shot with my CM9. I'm planning to start the test using 124 grain Speer GDHP, because that's what is currently in my gun. Lets see a quick show of hands.

He says most of the bullets that failed to expand still start to tumble atleast, so I dunno about that clean round hole, but hey, let us know how it works out!
