  • New guy from Idaho - CW9 frame cracked?

Hi all. First post here; first Kahr ever, a CW9. I noticed when taking pics tonight there appears to be a crack that runs around the front of the grip part of the frame. I've searched best I could to find info but came up blank. Funny thing is this crack appears to be in other CW9 pics I've found online; including in this forum. When looking inside the mag well it appears this "crack" belongs there and appears to connect to the cover plate on the upper right side of the frame on the grip. Then there is another part of the inside of the mag well that just doesn't look right. I'm hoping someone will tell me this is normal. I've only had the gun 2 days and have not shot it yet.

    Welcome to the forum.
No worries. That is a mold mark that all of our pistols have. You have one if the nicest pistols Kahr makes I believe for the price. I had one and traded it for a CM9 and wish I would have kept both. I did get a CW45 later though so all is good.

    for some tips.

You should have no problems and as one of our members says "shoot it like you stole it." Odds are you should have no problems. Let us know how it goes.

One tip, until you get through the first 200 rounds and the guns loosens up, load the gun by filling the mag and using the slide release to chamber a round.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Whew! Thanks for the quick reply. I really love the feel of this gun and didn't want to have to send it back.

You're good to go I think. Once you get accustomed to the Kahr trigger I think you'll really like it too. It's super smooth. I can shoot my Kahr pistols as well or better than my others (maybe because I shoot them more.)

+1, What they said. Just a mold mark. Shoot it like you stole it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did find some other places that discuss it too so I'm no longer concerned. My OCD made be put a Hogue Handall Jr on the grip and it feels great. Shined up the barrel hood and installed a Dawson front night sight. Rear night sight from Dawson and Comp-Tac Infidel IWB holster on the way. I'm basically drooling over needing to go shoot this piece as soon as the mud in BLM dries up a little.

              welcome Ed. enjoy!

It's funny how many of us Kahrtalk members admit to being OCD. Is that true of all forums/gun owners?

I don't think it's true of all gun forums.

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
