I've never owned a Kydex holster, only leather. I assume there wouldn't be any issues with moisture retainment, but won't Kydex cause wear marks worse than leather?

Kydex vs. Leather

If it's an IWB holster Kydex is nice and thin. It's kinda like running around naked, or like I imagine it would be anyway.
The Kydex is softer than the steel and I haven.t seen an issue on a stainless slide. Now if you have a blued or other finish it may wear the finish. The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Pretty much ditto for me. Always was a leather guy anyhow.
If you want the best of both worlds check out Garrett's Silent Thunders, leather lined kydex. Easy on the gun and bomb proof on the outside.
Not as thin as kydex alone (and I do have a few kydex for special occasions) but a darn nice holster.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

yqtszhj, while I do like running around naked, I never thought about wearing a gun and holster at the same time. I think my wife might like it.
Yeh, it's for IWB CW9, and thinner is good. Also I assume a hybrid with leather back would be better against the skin. True? Going Kydex opens up a lot of new options for me since I've been looking at leather only. But, leather sure looks nicer in my book.Women call it "the silent treatment", and they think we don't like it.

Kydex holsters are moulded to the gun. Where there is no movement there is no wear. I've carried my CM9 and P380 in a PJ holster Holster for two years and haven't experienced any holster wear to the gun and no gun wear to the holster. Kydex doesn't retain moisture and can be cleaned with a damp cloth.Never trust anyone who doesn't trust you to own a gun.

kwh mentioned N82 holsters. On their pro model they use a polycarbonate (lexan) material riveted to oil tanned leather. the back side is soft suede and is very comfortable against the skin. there is a thin layer of neoprene sandwiched in between to keep moisture away from your firearm. Supposedly the polycarbonate is easier on the firearms finish than kydex. I wear them any time I'm carrying IWB. I know I've recommended N82 several times on this forum, and just let you know I'm in no way affiliated with the company, although they did give my son a t-shirt. Just like Kahrs they are a product I use and believe in.
