Exactly. Mine has a rail light attached when it is doing HD duty - every night. The light is snug up against the trigger guard.

Hmm. I never thought of that. I thought it was squared off and serrated to provide a purchase for the weak hand, to provide a firm two-handed grip and help reduce muzzle flip.
      Very interesting...

Ran around all day Sunday with the HK P30 cross draw.
It's the perfect size and weight for me.
Carries like it's not even there.

I'm so happy with this gun I just can't take it - LOL!

Ordered 500 rounds of Federal 155 gr JHP,
and 100 Speer 155 gr GDHPs.

Should have the third mag, V1 light LEM springs
and XS 24/7 Big Dot sights by the end of the week.

Barth, I see you are getting help and advice over there at HKPro. You will find that a great forum to get advice on all things HK. The forum does get heated sometimes with some member having "attitude problems", but I have found even those members are polite and helpful when dealing directly via PM's. In other words, during your visits there, don't be discouraged if you come across an attitude every so often.

          Enjoy

Already got a taste of that.
Being a newbie and asking common questions I expected to get some flack.
Still, got some really good info.

              It's interesting.
Their is a lot of confusion and misinformation about the right springs for P30 LEM Light V1.
Even the HKparts website has conflicting info.

Fortunately the technical resource section sticky on LEM Light V1 installation,
and some others posting corrections, I was able to sort it out in the early AM hours.
It's really just the FPBS light and TRS light springs that do it.
              The HS remains the same.
Printed the FPBS/TRS installation instructions for the gunsmith.
I'm getting the Big Dots and an extra mag express mailed to me today at 12PM.
Will turn in to the gunsmith for V1 Light LEM and NS installation this afternoon.
Should have a consistent ~5.5 lbs pull when done.

This is going to be fun!!!

                Thanks!
$900 seems like a lot for a handgun.
But I usually get trigger jobs, match barrels....
And all my guns, even the Glock, end up around $900 or more.
                (Glock EXO G27 $650 + Storm Lake G27-357 ported Isonite barrel + $208 + SS RSA $50)

About 26 oz, high capacity, super ergonomics, recoil reduction technology,
near match grade accuracy - and it's bomb proof baby!!!

For $900 this gun is a steal - LOL!
I think of a SD handgun as life insurance.
                And I'm priceless.

                I couldn't be happier.
                Life is good

I'm glad you are able to feed that need, Barth!

That is a great looking gun. Looks ergonomic. How stiff is the recoil spring, compared to a PM/CM? Do you know the poundage? Probably don't need a grip sleeve or anything. (Although I like the sure grip that rubber gives.) You know, I wish manufacturers would start making poly frame guns with replaceable grips so an owner could opt for rubber or wood grips.
                  Very interesting...

What is the chance of someone releasing the mag when drawing the gun from deep cover?

I don't know the spring rate.
It feels much less than my MK40.
                        Less than my Sig P220.
A little more than my Sig P239 or Glock G27.

My gun does have three sizes of replaceable rear and side panels.
Grip angle feels like a 1911. I like the standard panels and haven't messed with them.

It's too big for deep cover.
About the size of a Glock G19 or Sig P239.
I was worried about the mag release, but it's rounded, well placed
and actually works better than I expected.
The controls on the gun actually are easier to work, without changing my grip, than my Sig or Glock guns.

I really don't think you would ever accidentally dump the mag the way they are designed.

Oh, cool. So the side panels are changeable, opening up the possibility of custom grips. Bawanna, whaddayathink?

I'm not optimistic but if some one wants to send me one for trial I'll give it a go.
