  • 9mm Commander at 25 Yards

This is gonna take a LOT of work.

    Day 2 - slight improvement

Every one of them hits would smart pretty bad. I'd say not too much work.

I counted 6 times and only see 27 holes? Must be a double in there, looks possible on a couple.

pretty darn good, u should try now at 10 and under and I bet those groups willbe very very small. 25 yards for fun is great but for defense, get good CLOSE..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Yea pretty good for iron sights at that distance. 25yds is a long way. You'd have to have an optic of some kind to get any better. Just make sure you practice from 3-10yds more than 25yds.

Thanks, but the 9mm isn't my carry piece just a shooter.

I carry the Colt CCO in .45 ACP for short range practice.

Thought I'd shoot the 9mm out to 25 just to see what it would do.

Tried the CCO at 25 today, too, for splits and giggles.

I think I could duplicate that with my K9 if it had a 73 foot barrel on it. Just sayin.

That's pretty good shootin' to me. If I can hit a paper plate at 25 yds, I'm tickled...forget any group. My 45 Commander is one of few I can do that with ...at times. Always wanted a 9mm Commander like yours.

I know it's a venal sin, but the 9mm Commander sure if fun to shoot and a lot less expensive than the .45.

However, I just started shooting rimfire silhouette matches, and it'll spoil you real quick!

No sin! Wasn't the Commander first designed around 9mm for military consideration after WW2?

                        I don't think so.

God and JMB intended all 1911's to be .45 ACP.

That's what was on the tablets when he came back down the mountain.

I very humbly stand corrected! May God and JMB forgive.

Yup, it sure was forestranger. It also had an aluminum frame for the military evaluation trials.

                              Who'da thunk it?

"Shortly after the Second World War, the United States Government began sponsoring a series of tests to find a new pistol to replace the Colt M1911A1. One of the key requirements dictated at the time was that the pistol was not to exceed 7.0 inches in length or 25 ounces in weight. These tests were conducted at Aberdeen Proving Grounds as well as at Fort Benning, Georgia. The pistols submitted at this time were the S&W M39, the Colt Commander, a modified Inglis Hi Power, a FN Hi Power and the T3 trial pistol, all chambered in 9mm Parabellum. Proposed at the end of 1949, the Commander was intended to fill a military need for a lighter handgun which would be issued to officers. None of these pistols were selected for the Armed Forces during this round of tests, but Colt wisely decided to go forward with commercial production of the Commander and it proved itself to be a popular and successful design."
