  • WOO HOO!! Completed a Vintage Pistol Set Today

    1953 S&W K-22 Masterpiece

Well, apart from the Nox-Rust paper, and with a lot of help and advice from the S&W Forum members, I completed the set today!
Pistol, box, Helpful Hints brochure, sight adjustment tool, and cleaning tools.

It's a shooter and not a museum piece, but it's all there finally.

    What a great hobby!

wow, super peace. I used to have one years back with a K4 weaver scope on it. shot alot of squirrels with it. It is the cadillac of 22's IMO. nice find, box and all. really adds to it. that box of kleenbores brings back memories. Back then Smith put a blue finish on those guns that u could see and comb ur hair with um. unbelievable and we just back then took that stuff for granite. Colt was the same way. I just think they knew no other way but the quality way.

Doe s anyone back then remember the ol 256 Ruger hawkeye ? Now that was a power house and well made handgun. I rememberr my neighbor back then coming over and knowing I was a gun fan, asking me if I would put his cat away as it was hit by a car and was laying by his foundation suffering. so I said sure, so I thought WTF I will take the 256 Hawkeye and try it out. He when I got there said I will go dig a hole to bury it after u put it away but I don't want to see u do it. I said OK. so around the house he went and the cat was laying right by his block foundation, so I just aimed and shot, well it dodn't turn out to good, as it blew the cat to smitereins, all over his foundation and siding, and when he came arond to get the cat and see what happened, he said I think I better get the garden hose and some soapy water. Kinda felt sorry for the ol timer to, as I didnb't think it would be so devestating to the cat, but trust me. the cat was gone, well not really gone but all over the side of his house. Oh for the good ol days. Just sayin

sure but didn't Smith back then make a similar K22 that took the inserts for 22 but also shot the 22 jet round. Or am I dreamin.I think it was a Model 53 even. I think I took one in on trade once even but forgot some of the specs of the gun ..

Gorgeous! The K22 is one of only two revolvers I own, and that's only because of it's supurb trigger. You're going to love this gun. Enjoy!
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

                        Thanks!

Ironic...when I got it the trigger action was just awful!

My gunsmith said it was new, hardly fired, and the cylinder lock wasn't machined smoothly and was digging in too early.

He worked his magic on it, and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

That is one really nice gun - Don't let your experience be diminished by comparison to others. There is always somebody who is richer, thinner, or stronger.
