I was in our new Cabela's for the first time yesterday, wow that's a place I could spend some time in. My Brother wanted to look at the .45's, he's wanting a 1911. They had a Remington on sale that looked pretty nice.
I've been looking for a lever action rifle in a pistol caliber (.357 or 44 mag), and they had a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag, used, for $525. Seems to have been taken care of, and has a scope rail already put on.
Do you think that is a fair price? I thought it seemed a bit high.

) in 30-30 last Christmas, although I would have preferred re-building a vintage true Marlin off the pawn shop rack. I think he would have been just as happy at the moment, and much more happy in the long term. Right out of the box the front sight and screw were rolling around loose, and the rear sight dove tail was milled about 5 degrees out of level.... not to mention the cheap crap birch stock.
