  • My new Sig!

I recently picked up my Sig P220 Equinox and took this photo last night. All the photos I could find on the internet just didn't do it justice, and quite frankly, my photo isn't "all the way there" either (I didn't use my tripod or set the lights up properly), but, surprisingly, it still turned out pretty good. The wood grips fit in my hand perfectly, and I can't wait to shoot this puppy!

It also has night sights, and the front sight is a combo with fiber optic (green). That makes it nice for day or night.

            Congratulations on your new pistol.
I personally feel that the P220 is the best of Sig Sauer.

I've liked my P220's... first a "Browning BDA" then a Sig "P220-American", and finally and finally just a P220.

The Equinox grips are almost the same as the newer rounded grips. Best change I ever did to my Sig was going to the rounded grips - which also required the change of a few internal components. Next best thing was getting rid of the sharp spur hammer and going to the rounded one - which required the change of a few more components. All that "other stuff" was fairly minor - hammer strut related and the little plastic block at the back of the frame. The old block was steel inset, btw....

All of my P220's have shot better after 100 or 150 rounds uncleaned, than after freshly cleaned. I dunno why... And they also seem to feed everything but the kitchen sink, and may feed that too, if I could find out how to load sinks in the magazine.

Finally - the new 8 round mags are flawless, and... the 10 round mags area equally flawless (Kahr, please take note!).

+1 on the 10 round mags.
                  Mine are flawless too.

I've never been a huge Sig fan (I've only owned 3 220s and no other model, though I want to try a 226) but the Equinox finishes really make me want a new one....

You did well. The P220 is one great firearm. The same could be said of most of their full/mid size handguns.
Last weekend I did some private instruction and let a married couple try different pistols/revolvers to help them avoid a expensive error in their first firearms purchase. They both took our basic pistol course and the wife had her permit to carry. Both of them independently choose my P226 as the firearm they felt was the safest and easiest to operate in the dark of night.

It seems like a lot of people complain about the $40 price of the magazines. One of the first things that I noticed about this gun was that the magazines are VERY nice, and to me, worth every bit of $40. You're right CJB, Kahr SHOULD take note.

Very nice. I just "found" SIG after they changed the grips to the new E2 style. Bought 2 so far. Truthfully the mags an almost every pistol are overpriced.

JustinN, the finish is really nice, almost too nice. I find myself setting it down more gently than the rest of my guns. Every photo I saw of the Equinox two-tone finish on the web looked ugly to me... I remember even making fun of it after I saw a photo on Bud's. But it was way better in person!

My new "crush" gun is a Sig P220 SAO, there was one about an hour away on armslist last week for $650.00. I should have bought it. Still looking.

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot the new gun yet, but so far I am very impressed with it. Hope to get to the range Friday after work.
