Some folks are all a dither over the G30s, a regular sized G30 frame (1.28") with a G36 skinny slide (1.1"). The G30SF is 1.27" so there! Who's got the slim hips now, Dawg?! A lot about nothing but it doesn't take much to get the Glockafiles to go to Glock Church and sing in the chior.

I shot my G30sf yesterday and did well with the new XS Big Dot sights. It was very natural to lay the front sight on the target and let the rest follow. I took my time with 1 target and shot better groups than I ever did with my small gun. It's definitely my hands fitting the big gun better.

I did have the BIF (brass in face) a bit and was like a roster pecking at the dirt looking all over for my brass. It went right/left/behind and I didn't recover all of it. I'll be tackling the extractor doing the fix I learned about on the internet.

I also have & often carry a standard size G30. Not much I don't like about it, and it usually sits on my night stand every night. Great weapon if you like Glocks, which I obviously do. 2 10-round mags & 2 13-round mags make for some hurtin' on somebody if needed!

I totally love XS 24/7 Express Big Dot sights.
Have them on most of my handguns.
IMHO for close quarters combat and a flash sight picture they are unrivaled.

        I have a 2007 Gen 3 G30, and it is awesome.

The reason why folks like the 36 slide on the 30 frame is higher capacity without the bulky slide.

I had a G36 for a couple days, and it wouldn't feed one mag of anything without a jam. They have a horrible track record. I took it back to the LGS, and they swapped me even for a G19, and I couldn't be happier.

I get that it is a skinny slide, but the grip is still as fat. I can hide a slide easier than I can the grip. From the grip end pic the slide reminds me of Laural Hardy's hat sitting on top of his fat head!

Had a G30 several years ago. Too fat for me in the grip and the slide. the new hybrid does nothing for me. I have a G36 that is awesome and has been flawless with about 450 rounds through it. If you are unfortunate enough to live in New York, you may want to consider a G36 with 6 round magazines.

While I had both a G36 and G30sf, I tried the G30s configuration and was not impressed. It had a little less recoil than the G36 but more than the G30. Plus, it did not conceal any better for me. The combination that I really like is the G36 frame with a G30 slide. Now that was very easy to carry and the heavier slide tamed a lot of the snap of the G36. It looked retarded though with the fat slide on the slim frame.

I agree with what you said concerning the 30s...alot to do about nothing. I own a 30SF, it is bulky, but I do love to shoot that gun! Its bulkiness really helps with the recoil.
