DoubleTap Defense .45ACP Pocket Derringer – SHOT Show 2013

This is a really neat double derringer style pocket pistol that comes in both .45ACP and 9mm,
and it is available in both aluminum, at 12 ounces empty, for $499, or titanium at 14 ounces, for $729.
At present all of the major distributors have placed orders for the guns,
in the tens of thousands, and within a couple months the factory,
located in Naples, Florida, should be able to produce over 5,000 guns per month.
A full line of holsters and accessories are already available for the DoubleTap, and the barrels and calibers are interchangeable,
with .40S&W hopefully available by summer.

Interesting - looks like an improved (and very expensive) version of the WWII "Liberator", but what's the advantage of that over the CM45?

This is old company gun that flopped, looks like under new owners?
They were pushing them a couple years ago with no guns out for test. I e mailed them in past and never got response. I would like to hear from someone that actually shot one. I would think recoil would make it a joke to actually shoot.

I have a tiny, little itty-bitty Freedom Arms five shot revolve in .22lr. Never thought a .22lr had that much recoil! I can't imagine what these things feel like when pulling the trigger.

Agree looks more like a novelty more then anything. I've seen them before. I once had a chance to shoot my friends 45/410 ga. derringer and never ever wanted to shoot it again. Once was enough. Way to much recoil with very little accuracy. He even bought the 9mm barrel for it and it was still terrible at best, and I'm sure the weight of that derringer was a lot more then the DT. He sold it shortly after.

Its is the same designer and owner of Double Tap . Double tap guys had issues with the hiezer group that was to build the little pistol. Took a good deal of time to finally walk away from heizer.

Story on the new builder of the pistol for Double Tap is worth of looking into. The new builder is AZIMUTH. The owner has been into many things thru the years all highly successful and mostly for the military needs . There first florida busniess, Defence Research, was next to my dads business back in the 70's. This guy had a jet turbine powered go fast boat back in the early 80's.

Might well be a great quality gun.....but being "super lite titanium" and small would destroy your hand shooting it.

It sure has a pretty high price point to be considered a Novelty item. One would think they could get the cost down on this thing. Looks pretty simple!

The aluminum will be 499. Guys pay that all the time for those heavy weight Bond deringers . One would think that could be lighter and cheaper too. I would not buy one but it is a very interesting design haveing the double action trigger. Just when thin is needed like for a runner or bike rider it could fit the bill.

You want sticker shock,, Call american deringer and ask for a price on there double action. right at 700 dollars.

Oh you can handle a little recoil!! Hey a aluminum version in 9mm weights 14oz Guess you have not shot other smaller lighter pistols. a DB9 at 10oz is not fun but not bad nor the 12oz KT pf-9.

Bet if you need one you would never feel the shot. Not say'n it would be enjoyable but with 30,000 allready ordered guess theres a few that think there manly enought, hehe. Again would I buy one. naaa Got other small light attention getters now.

When I was a youger man I loved shooting loud, hard kicking handguns ( remember the old .30 cal Blackhawk? yikes !!!), but now I'm affraid that thing would cost me a new pair of glasses. But as I posted earlier, It would give braggin rights at the range with the rest of the old farts
