  • Finally finished my new toy!

Two weeks before Newtown, I bought an AR 15 lower that was on a ridiculous sale price. Figured i would have fun building a new toy. Well, it took until April to finish finding the parts to build the lower. Then I waited until prices went back to normal for the upper half. Finally came in the other day!
    Here's how it turned out!

Nice, now to just find some ammo at a reasonable price...
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Looks Great! Congrats on finishing the build. I am still having trouble finding some of the parts for my second AR build..... but I have also been spending way to much cash lately on other toys that I have added to my arsenal.

Great looking build, congrats. Nice gun.

Maryland is banning new AR-15s come 1 October. So in addition to buying a complete one, I'm in the process of building a custom AR as well. It will be my first (and only) build.

Nice job. What upper / lower did you go with? Optics?

What's the logic behind the unsupported rail overhang on your optic?

The best part of owning an AR is building an AR.

The best part of building an AR is being able to choose exactly the parts you want for your rifle, instead of buying one off the shelf and then spending more money to fix it.

cert, what parts do you still need?
The rail is because that particular red dot is too long to fit on a shorter rail!
It's an ATI Omni lower and Delton upper.

Hit the range yesterday and had mixed reviews. The rifle ran perfectly, devouring steel cased ammo without a hiccup. The Magpul BUS worked fine and were dead on from the factory. However, the scope mount would not stay tight so i could not zero the red dot. I think that is going to be a fun scope, so I'm looking forward to that.

I didn't think you'd be happy with the optics mount, but that's how we learn, isn't it? Trial and error. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You'll find a solution that works better for you and we, too, will learn from your experience.

Oh yeah, I hate cheap tools, but as it was an experiment I didn't want to sink much into it. Anyway, the seller is shipping me a replacement. We'll see how that works.
