Springfield Armory EMP 9mm

I don't have an EMP but friends do. I've only heard good things about them.

took a real close look at the emp 40 awhile ago and it was VERY tempting. good stuff!

I was once tempted to spend the money for the EMP 9 when they first hit the market, but $1200 (at the time) was just too much. I'm still kinda interested in a 9mm in the 1911 platform and the new RIA TCM22 looks real promising at $650 (list). Probably still a full size 1911 frame, but the 2 barrels are the real enticing part. One barrel/main spring are standard 9mm, the other is chambered for the TCM22 .... a 22 cal bullet seated in a necked down 9mm casing. I've been following the chatter about this one for the last year and it does sound interesting. There is already factory ammo available for the TCM22 and supposedly the ammo manufacturer will "reload" your brass for about 65% the cost of new ammo. Also word has it that reloading dies will be available soon. Sounds like they are really going to push that round.

Obviously it doesn't have the slim/trim sizing of the EMP, but it does have it's own appeal.

I have always liked the looks of the EMP but usually got hung up on the price tag. I wish someone I knew would buy one so I could shoot it lol.

It's a little too pricey for me. I've always said If I was going to get a SA 9mm, it would be a Browning (or FN) Hi-Power, since that gun was designed for the 9mm. I'm weird, for me 1911's have to be in .45 (or 38 Super for competition). There are too many other designs in 9mm that I'd rather have than one based on a 1911 platform.
The CZ-75 is at the top of the list, A number of SIG's, are excellent firearms, if looking for a traditional hammer fired metal framed pistol.
The STI Spartan can be had in 9mm for about half the price, around $650, and is said to be one of the best 1911's in that price range.
If price is no object I bet the Springfield is one helluva shooter. My entry level Springfield has been a very good dependable gun. 16 years old or so, and it's been through a recoil spring or two, but just keeps going.

I have an EMP9 & am very impressed with it. SA says it was designed around the 9mm cartridge. The only problem I had was getting the ejector pinned but SA did it in 7 days. Fit & finish is fantastic the feedramp & breechface came polished,grip screws have not come loose,3 high quality mags,has been 100% reliable. Mine was $1019 + transfer. It is a little bigger than my mk9&mk40 but is 9+1 so the grip is longer. Not really that expensive as far as 1911's with lots of features go.

Sounds like you got a good deal on yours Kerby. I was going by the MSRP around $1300. You're not kidding when you say that's not much to pay for a hot rodded 1911. I don't think you can get into a Les Baer or Bill Wilson custom for twice that. Oh excuse me, Gallery of Guns.com shows 1 Les Baer under $2000.

I bought mine about a year ago from Guns America (Oak Hill) before all the panic. Picked up a S&W m&p 340 (no lock) just before the panic stuff now you can hardly find either and if you can the price is up.

I read a few forums where it stated that the ejector on this high priced pistol was glued in...That kinda did it for me. Now leaning toward the SIG P239 with the DAK trigger. Thanks to all who responded!!
