  • Carry Gun Paradigm Shift

    cliffs:
XDS in .45 ACP sold after getting it back from the recall (serious trigger issues)

carried the custom Colt CCO for two months - 8 rounds of .45 ACP

One of my firearm mentors convinced me that shot placement trumps caliber. (And I've been a .45 ACP guy.)

Now I am carrying an ugly, sunrise-dependable Gen3, Glock 19.

    16 rounds of Barnes all-copper 9mm.

25 cent trigger job = smooth, 5 lb trigger

    finis

Not a bad choice Doc. I'd carry a Glock 19 Gen-4 if it didn't feel like a 2X4 in my little girl hands. They are butt ugly, but they do work when you call on them. The 9MM is adequate for self defense and a bit more controllable that the .40 and .45.

Nothin' wrong w/ that. If I wasn't carrying a Kahr that I trusted 110%, I'd have to add a Glock to my collection, painful as it is to say that, and it'd be a G19. Nothing else thin enough out there to be comfortable for me. For me, it's not hiding the grip, or even the barrel length. I carry a TP9 almost exclusively now. It's the thickness. The Glock would be next in line for that.

Nice to have such choices (e.g. 15 round mags.)... Written from Connecticut where "common sense" gun laws now prevail.

                  When in CA, you can carry a .22 with a 10rd mag or a .45 with a 10rd mag. Just one reason I went to a .45.

My G19 3rd g is the best gun I have ever owner for accuracy. My PMJ9 is the best gun I have ever carried..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I would carry that before a Block any day...........If 8 rds. of .45 isn't enough, you might as well kiss your arse goodbye...............

Just how badly would you want to carry it?

Years ago my friends and I, yes I had two fiends, would debate light fast vs slow heavy self defense ammo.
My solution, and first carry gun,
was a S&W 629 Mountain Gun loaded with Federal 240 gr 44 Mag Hydra-Shoks - the best of both worlds.
                              Later I switched to a Sig P220 45.
And then went through a variety of other makes and calibers.

The another popular debate was caliber vs capacity.
And my solution is a HK USP Tactical 45.
                              12+1 230 gr +P @ ~940 fps - the best of both worlds.
That along with my trusty titanium J-frame bug are what I carry on weekends.

                              Full Disclosure
Weekdays, in business attire, when only a pocket pistol will do.
                              My sub-compact HK P2000SK 357 Sig gets the call (9+1 125 gr @ ~1300 fps).
