We must be close to each other Ol'coot.

Ol' Coot, yer as big a softie as I am. So far my son has weaseled two S&W K frames and a 1911 out of me, not to mention a shotgun and a .243. It's hard to say no to 'em.

I must admit I am a big softie when it comes to my children, grandchildren and my wife. We have 4 sons and they have all grown into fine men, husbands, fathers. Each one of them are very different from the other in many ways but they all make me very proud everyday.

I am pleased that I get the opportunity once in a while to do something special for one of them on a very personal basis as they are all very much self sufficient and do not ask for anything.

I am a truly blessed man in so many ways. Thanks to all of you that have commented but I am sure that most of you are the same way when it comes to your children.

Funny my chief gives me that line all the time. Everytime I request to carry on my person in the office. Always says he'd let me but he's afraid I'll shoot my eye out.

Now instead of an annual request, I've upped it to bi annually.

Always a big stink, now twice a year.

I guess you just like your other son better. It's ok, I can take rejection. And I'm not a vulture neither. Not into material things, just guns, knives, pick up trucks and girls (not to be confused with violets) and pretty much in that order.

                      Ol'coot,

Sometimes it's simply impossible to say no. My son is in Korea as well. I now have a Korean daughter, and granddaughter. While he likes guns, he has an affinaty for watches.

Last year he had a accumulated close to 1 month of leave and brought his new family home. I can't tell you how much of a change I saw in him when he came home. I considered myself blessed that he was assigned to a medical battalion being that he picked petroleum specialist as his MOS.

When he was assigned to Korea and not the sandbox, I was able to take my first breath. So like you, when he admired my Omega, off my wrist it went.
I firgure someday he will have them all anyway, and it's great to be around to see them enjoy it while I'm still here.

Since it seems that are both from Michigan, maybe are kids will bump into each other someday.

The first is right before he left. The second on his re-up, the third my new daughter, and the forth my granddaughter.

Also I tried to get him to follow in his father's footsteps, but the Army was his choice.

Regardless, I'm proud of how he took control of his life. Like you Ol'coot, I am a proud Dad. Sorry for over doing it with the pictures, I couldn't help myself.

What a beautiful family your son has brought to you. Congratulations, grandpa!

Now get your new daughter something nice too.

What a fine looking young man and his beautiful wife and your gorgeous grand daughter. I don't blame you for bragging as you are indeed a lucky man. Please thank you son for his service for me. Who knows your son and mine could cross paths in South Korea, my son is stationed at Kusan AFB. My sons best friend is also a Michigan native from the Flint area that he met while stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. After meeting they found out they joined the air force a week apart and were in basic training in Texas at the same time. Where are you located in Michigan, I am in Lake Orion.

Thank you everyone for letting me go overboard. I am truly a blessed man and Tony, my son has indeed been to Kusan because of it's size.

I'm right on the tip of the thumb between Caseville and Port Austin. We were going to retire on the western side, Traverse City or Petoskey, but needed to stay close to my folks.

My father is from Lake Orion in part. His parents had a cabin on the Lake and eventually, my Grandmother moved out there full time after my Grandfather passed away. I have so many memories as a kid in Lake Orion when it was a small little one horse village.
I'll tell you how long ago it was, the drive to Lake Orion was nothing but open fields until you saw the drug store. When I went out exploring for a day, we would walk through fields and down a one lane road with nothing around until you entered an even smaller town called Oxford.
We would walk down the dirt roads on the days when the oil trucks would come to spray down the roads. At the end of the day, are feet were covered with black oil/tar.
The sub division was called the bunny run or something like that. I just remember a brick/stone entrance with bunnies on either side.
You could go down to the lake and drink from the spring.
The water was clear enough to drink right out of it.
It was a thousand years ago.

Please express my thanks to your son for his service on behalf of our country. He is stationed in a very important part of the world.

I was fortunate enough to have served between wars and stationed for a large part in Florida flying coastal patrols and instructing primary. I had it easy compared to all those who have served in some of the most dangerous parts of the world.

Sorry for the boring trip down memory lane and for "Hijacking the post"

                                Again ~ Happy Birthday Tony!!

                                God Bless America!!!
