  • Windham Weapons SRC-308

Anyone had experience with Windham? Bride agrees we need a high capacity rifle and Windham's SRC-308 seems to fit the bill. They have a LEO/Military discount to sweeten the deal also.

I love the Windham Weaponry story. I support them at every opportunity. It's a classic example of a great American business built on true grit and hard working people.

As the company strives to regain market share with their new name, I have no doubt that their product is the best value out there. Quality is superb. Price is less than their competitors. Move over Bushmaster; Windham is back in the game.

If you're not familiar with it, here's a link to their story. It makes me feel good every time I read it.

If they happen to have a two for one sale going on, I'm your man.

I too although not a devout AR guy love Windham and everything they stand for.

Great to hear all good. That's what I've found in the AR forums also. I'm ordering direct from the factory as soon as my FFL gets his credentials faxed to them. Military program is generous, all you need is to have ever served, not just retired. Of course they have a LEO discount also.

I need to clean up a little bit of debt and then I'll see how good the LE deal is. I'd sure like to have a 308. Anybody already have a 308 on an AR platform, wondering how the shoulder punishment might be. I'm not against a little pain mind ya but I do have limits, high limits except for my mouth.

My son bought a Scout Squad at our gun show this weekend, that's been on my list forever. I should have got one before Ovomit got sworn in and the prices doubled overnight. I saw it coming and blew it.

He got his for 1500 and change, best price I've seen for a long time. Course they were less than a grand back in the day.

                Windham has a great reputation.
If I ever inherit some big money I'd like a .308 myself -

Factory quoted me a military price of $1,150 shipped. That's very close to the last price I saw on ammoseek. I'd sooner give Windham the extra revenue over wholesale than to a retailer.

That's about Grab-a-gun's price, a bit over. They are out of stock right now. In .223 it is $669. I'll play if you're putting together a group buy!

I'm relieved. I saw Alfonse and my first thought was he's got one and I ain't chaining up my van to get to the good side of the mountains so I can play with it. Although I really want to ya know?

Someday our ship will come in.

Colonel, I don't think even chains would work this week. News says 10' of new white stuff in the mtns. I like being closer to sea level and dealing with rain.

I've been going back and forth across the mountains. The new snow keeps the traffic down and is easier to drive in than the icy stuff.

I definitely want to pick up another .223 carbine. The wife and daughter like to shoot those just fine. I really like my M1A for .308, but I have to admit the AR style rifles are a bunch lighter. Being so light, I don't think it would be quite as popular to shoot in .308 if I ever needed to arm the whole family.

But, maybe I should get one to try out. I can drive over your way Colonel if you have a place to shoot that isn't too stuffy. We have plenty of places this way. In a few more weeks, you'll need the air conditioning instead of the chains.

Oh man. Don't post those pictures. I think Windham would be good as I have an original Bushmaster 5.56 and it's a tack driver.

The one thing I would suggest is get the 20 inch barrel over a 16 inch carbine. Get the heavy barrel if you don't mind the weight. I would bet it will be a tack driver. Your grouping opens up more than you would think when you loose the 4 inches.

I have a carbine length (or should I say it's the wife's) and also have the 20 inch h-bar and the H-bar is far above the carbine on accuracy.

Oh, and go with direct impingement and not gas piston. Less moving parts = better accuracy IMHO.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Want to see what will be the end of our country as we know it???

I should add, it probably won't be raining over here either.
