The bullpups are usually priced out of my range. Usually over $1500. I don't know if I'd like one or not since I've never shot one. I'd certainly be willing to give one a try, but I'm not very excited about owning one. I think for now I'd rather stick with the AR platform, due to parts availability. They do look interesting. Makes me wonder how they feel shooting with all that weight concentrated at the back of the rifle. I imagine that is probably pretty nice, since your shoulder would be supporting most of the guns weight.

Here is a post about why bullpups are not the best choice. The IDF adopted the TAVOR but for primarily indigenous reasons. The SEALS, DELTA do not use bullpups for general issue. I will stick with their wisdom first. The reasons listed below in the blog lay out a perfect case. Generally I agree with Hikok 45 but in this case he is really not fully understanding the drawbacks as he is just shooting at stationary targets while standing up and not wringing it out in a tactical manner.

FN is really proud of their puppy. I liked how the brass dribbled out the front.

I have always thought about making a shell to put a semi auto in.

Bullpup or not to bullpup that is the question

I've always like bullpups since I saw the bushmaster bullpup years ago.
It was ugly but I liked the design.

I don't like or want a AR. I had one attached to my hip for 4 years and could care less about them.

Still some don't like them I think for the task at hand of self defense having a short profile rifle is the way to go.Granted it's not a hunting gun, it's a shtf gun. So on that factor Mewannaone, just can't affordaone

I had a Mini 14 bull-pupped. Cheap plastic aftermarket. Baically a plastic shell around the rifle.

The plastic linkage for the trigger was the big negative. I still have both but the Mini 14 lives in wood the way mother nature intended.

Not a fan of bull pups, because of the noise and heat.

Add mechanical complexity, the complete difference in the manual of arms when it comes to magazine swaps and the list goes on and on. The only real issue the bullpup answers is maneuvering inside a structure. They offer NOTHING positive when used in the vast open spaces.

That was a great article you linked too LZ. Thanks for posting it. Urban warfare in tight quarters is about the only place they make any sense to use.
And in that tight of quarters, I would think a submachine gun would make better sense, say something in .45 ACP, instead of 9mm. And not a MAC 10 or whatever their .45 is called, either. A good ole Thompson would do the trick. Even if it is a bit on the heavy side.

Your welcome. Caliber selection and weapon selection can be mission dependent. In this case a pistol caliber submachine gun is applicable but in another situation an SBR with a rifle caliber might be the best choice.
