I've gotten to where I have trouble seeing the front night sight on my Cbob so I started looking around to find a brass bead front to replace it with. I ended up with a huge headache as usual trying to figure out what sight would fit the dove tail, and this is actually why I haven't done it for the last couple years like I wanted.
Well it struck me, why can't I make my own. I thought, can't be that tough and not a big deal.
I talked with a fellow coworker detective who suggested it couldn't be done. Never say it can't be done to bawanna.
Provided just the incentive I needed.
At first I thought it was just a plastic insert but after installing a new front site on another detectives Colt Rail Gun I decided it was time to take on the Cbob.
Found out it was in fact a night sight. Unlike Colt and the others Dan Wesson knows how to install a sight. It was snug but then had a vertical roll pin. Got it out easy without beating it to death and back in without beating it to death.
The Colt took me two hours of dinking around to get it out and the new one installed. And another hour to properly clean it, that detective shows no love to his guns.
Anyhow, all I did was drill out the radioactive toxic waste that didn't glow too good anymore anyhow. I held my breath and I've broken the vials on Beretta's before, another manufacture that must use an 800 ton press to install sights.
Found an appropriate size brass punch, a drop of super glue and a wedge fit, pounded it in, cut it off a tad long and peened the end.
Whala, brass bead. Total working time 15 to 20 minutes.
