The funny thing about this post is there is "that guy" all over this forum for Kahr fan boys.
If NOT going over to Glocktalk and bashing Glocks makes me a Kahr fanboy...then yep...guilty as charged.

Kahrs are my EDC guns now that I am retired, but that is because the Glocks are a bit too big for my lifestyle now. I carried a Glock as my duty gun for a long time. They worked great for my agency and to be honest, they are more dependable than Kahrs, at least until you've really broken in the Kahr. I like them both and face it, they are only tools to keep you alive. There is no place in self defense for fan boys and brand bashing. You are just trying to protect you and yours.

I have all three, G19,Sig 226, PM9 and each has it's unique characteristics, all are effective.

            Back to the OP.

Enjoy the Apex kit in your M&P. I installed the Apex sear only in my Shield and it really improved the performance of that firearm.

Although I'm not a Glocksucker, they seem to be the preference of most PD's, gotta be a reason for that. To each their own.

I can think of 2 reasons why that might be:
                1) There are more of the "That Guy" type of Glock owners because there are more Glock owners of EVERY type.
                2) Glocks are more idiot proof than other brands in the sense that you can mistreat and abuse them, and they still work fine. So more idiots own them.

I've owned my G17 for over 22 years. About 12 years ago I sent it in to the factory "just because" and they went through it completely, replaced all the springs and small parts, tested and sent it back no charge except shipping. That's all I've ever done to it except shoot and clean it, and I'm not sure the cleaning was necessary. Its big and clunky and pretty much stays in the truck, but I wouldn't want to part with it.

I agree to a point, but I could take you into a police gun cleaning room where the counter and walls have been repaired many times due to ND's.

Point gun in a safe direction, better yet, a sand filled bucket, before pulling trigger to remove the slide for cleaning your firearm.

The local Sheriff's dept. bought 631 new Glock's for $231 a piece. It was published in an article in the local newspaper. I know a few of them. They say that given the choice, a Glock is not their first choice. Sometimes, you've got to follow the money..........................

I prefer a S&W before a Glock but if I was always in harms way, the Glock would be my 2nd choice.

Cops should recite that aloud from memory before being allowed into the cleaning area.

Most Police officers do not choose their own guns. It's a decision made high up, and it's usually because Glock sells them to LE cheap, and it seems to be an effective marketing campaign by Glock, as it makes many others feel "if they are good enough for cops, they are more than good enough for me". They make up for low balling to LE by high balling to consumers. They've been making practically the same damn guns for over 30 years, except additional calibers and sizes, so it's not like they are constantly rolling out new designs, with all new tooling costs and such.

You don't see the military using them.

That said, I don't like the way they feel in my hand, but I know they are pretty good guns. I may buy a 19 one of these days, just to have incredible access to parts if the SHTF ever really comes. I'd imaging finding parts for my Ruger's, Kahr and other guns would be a lot more difficult.

We have clearing stations in the armory, the cleaning room and at my desk.

I have a self imposed rule that I lock the slide back prior to disassembly or handling of any Glock. I've been got a couple times by officers dropping their Glock and others too off for a repair, cleaning etc and found a chambered round.

Another factor big in LE is holsters and accessories. When we transitioned to Glocks we considered the Springfield XD and the Smith M&P. My choice was the M&P, but I couldn't get duty holsters for it or the XD, everybody makes everything for the Glock. It was actually tough because they were a little behind on the 21 stuff. 9's and 40's no problem, a little wait for the 45's. Management chose the Glock. But of course the chief didn't want a Glock, he got a Para Ordnance LDA. What's good for the gander or the goose or something???

The county went to M&P 45's and they love them. They had guns a long time before they went in service though, waiting for holsters.

They do make a good cop gun. Can't really mess them up cleaning, they run dirty if like most cops they don't get cleaned.

They spend far more time riding in the holster than they do being shot. Management seems to frown on shooting folks even if they sorely deserve to be shot.

I had to pull my application at our new Walmart. Due to all the hype nation wide about excessive force by LE, they have a new policy that their Loss Prevention can no longer go hands on to shoplifters and miscreants.
They can only verbally request they come back into the store to get their medicine. If they resist or run, they gotta let em go.

Not for me. I figure loss prevention is to prevent loss, not to watch merchandise be hauled out by the cart full.
