  • Some Rock Island goodness inbound...

Buds had a flash sale on the Rock Island (Armscor) M-200 pistol, which is the 4 inch, six shot knock off of the Colt D frame. Externally, its a D frame, Police Positive. Slightly different barrel configuration than what you normally see. Its a left hand wheeler like Colt always did. Inside... dunno. Can't find the innards online, but they say (who are THEY) that is not a D frame, which is good, because the D and I frame (and probably E frame) are fiddly bastards. I spent a while seeing what pushes what, and when, inside a 4 inch Python one day, replaced the parts that I'd need to, in order to correct the timing in both single and double action, and... while mission was accomplished, decided that would be the LAST one I'd do. Ever. The M-200 is supposed to be more like the Colt J or V frame (Mk III and Mk V respectively). Guess we'll see how that goes, but for (a price under $200) and decent online reviews, I think it will make a good truck gun.

And they also had a nice little sale on the Rock Island GI Sub-Compact .45 - basically an Officer's ACP with a nicer beaver-tail grip safety. No bushing, unlike the OACP, it uses a full reverse plug and full diameter 3-1/2 inch barrel. Smooth wood grips (looks like Philippine mahogany), Parkerized finish, and a magazine I'll just save and not use (don't like extended bases). Will also take off the beaver-tail and stick a bobbed beaver (shaved beaver?) replacement on there. Probably change to a GI short trigger too, if I can find another. Maybe at a gun show. And ersatz Novak sights.

Pics when it all happens. Buds just sent the tracking for the .45 (which I ordered today), and has not yet shipped the M-200 which I ordered over a week ago. Hmmm.

    Congratulations!
    I love buying new guns.
Bought four handguns recently, so I'm trying to be strong and hold out for a while - LOL!

I was watching for the RIA little .45, and they don't seem to last long anyplace (a good sign!). Bud's pricing can be weird, and jump all over the place by the hour. If you catch it right, sometimes.... you get a real deal. Like those TP-45's... I shoulda snagged one for that price. My bad. Anyway, I kept checking for the .45 and "zzapp!" the M-200 (which was varying from $204 to $245) was under two bills. I snagged one. And the RIA came available today, so I jumped on it and.... they raised the price $30. Bud's makes me wonder what their sales algorithm is. I know late night and Wednesday seem to be the lowest prices. Monday morning, second lowest.

You will like the .45. No experience with the revolver. I have one of the Armscor (Citadel) officer sized 1911 and it runs great. It is essentially the same gun as the RI. I added an ambi safety to mine because I am left handed. Look forward to your range report.

I recently looked at both of those guns and was intrigued. The 1911's hammer, I wanted that for my Citadel but it didn't exist at the time.
