Well I wound up involved in a trade/sale/buy of three guns and wound up with a 1919 made Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless and a 1907 Savage that was probably made in 1908, both in .32 ACP. Amazingly both have unchipped grips, even though they show honest wear and use from being carried. Bores are bright and shiny. Can't wait to get them to the range next week. Some purists are going to scream, but I will have to open up the rear sight notches a bit.

Well done, I had my fingers crossed for you. Glad it all came about.

Nice looking guns, look in great shape. And no cracked grips. That's amazing in itself.

Nice! I happen to like .32 Auto, so congrats on picking up those two excellent pistols
In my youth, I had a 1908 that was a fine shooter. I recently saw a photo of a nice one with stag grips that kind of made me ache for that long departed old Colt.

Thanks gents, I hope to hit the range Monday if I have time. I can't wait to see how they shoot, that 1903 is almost too small in the grip for my paws!

I've never shot a .32, what is it like? Would it work in self defense?
I know a 92 year old Veteran who carries one for self defense because he has really bad arthritis.

Jeepster, those are 10s not .32s!
And AIRret, the .32 is a very mild shooting round. It would be an excellent choice for someone with weaker/older hands.

I got one of those Savage pistols.... in .32

Speaking of savage 32's, I had a girlfriend once, a little sprig of a lass, and I ended up with a chipped tooth.... but I digress.

Whenever you hear about the Browning HiPower being the first handgun with a high capactity magazine, remember the Savage, and tell 'em all to go fish. In fact, Ed Searle and his boys came up with the design in 1907, and the Savage 1907 was adopted by France during WWI. The French liked it.... but wanted something a bit more powerful. Enter Mr. Browning and Mr. Saive. Browning said " c'est impossible!", but Mr. Saive thought differently, and worked to perfect his own high capacity magazine. Browning died, Saive completed the HiPower, and the French did what the French do best, they poo-pooh'd the whole endeavor, or as the French say "Je t'embrass mon rectum".

                  Great finds.

My Colt was built in the summer of 1916. Shoots great for a 100 year old! I often use it as an intro gun for new shooters, especially the ladies.
Good magazines can be hard to find though...

                      Enjoy your 32's

I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
                      "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?

Here's my most recent .45 family... at least one BEAUTY in it... the new P45 DLC. In the picture is my current carry ammo the Winchester Ranger-T 230-grain "standard" pressure load that seems to be +P! It was a bit stout for the PM45 but easier to shoot in the P45.
