Beautiful wood! But are you concerned they'll be slippery?

V-Bob is 25 LPI so I should be OK.
If not I can switch back to the VZ Slim Line G10s that come on the factory gun.

With the front strap checkered you can get along with smooth grips just fine.

I do wish my Cbob was checkered a little finer on the front strap like the Vbob.
It's a bit course but excellent traction and I wouldn't part with it for the world.

            Beautiful wood.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Funny I never heard of them. Just looked them up. The metal/polymer followers look interesting. They run about the same cost as Wilsons.

I pretty much run Wilson 47D's without exception. Some of my 1911's I don't think have ever had the factory mag even used. I should try them to make sure they work for spares.

Hope this doesn't relegate all the HK's and Tupperware to the back corner of the safe. I can certainly see that happening.

I blew it as usual when I got my Cbob. First one I saw I wanted badly at a gun show, it was like 750 bucks like new but used.
When I decided I had to have one, they had just come out with the VBob. I got my CBob from North Carolina and it was 1300 as I recall. They near doubled over night.

That being said I have no remorse whatsoever. I think both The C and the V are one of those that are worth it. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

                        Was set on Wilson mags.
But they don't seem to fit flush on the V-Bob?
Went with Tripp Cobra flush 7 round mags for fit and reliability.
They seem to be in the same league with Wilson and McCormick.
Read nothing but glowing reports about them.
                        And they look really good

Tripp Cobra 7 round mags with grips by Esmerelda.
The Finer Grain (The Sarge's) and Esmerelda seem to be the best of the V-Bob custom grips.

This is my very first, entry level, 1911.
                          Gave myself a $1,500 limit.
                          Did the research.
And had pretty much decided on a Stainless Springfield TRP.
Hade one in the cart several times.
But it just didn't sing to me...

I don't know crap about 1911s or what I might want on one.
But the non-MIM, forged stainless, bobbed commander.
With its clean classic look and style.
                          Absolutely called my name

Sounds like you have a nice pistol coming your way Barth I look forward to seeing the complete package!
While the V-bob is your chosen gateway into the 1911 universe, there are those that would argue the DW Valor line is several levels above "entry level".
Regardless, I think you made an excellent choice.
                            Regards,

Way far and above "entry level" in my book. They used to say it was a factory custom gun which it more or less is.

If that's entry level, it's the very tip top of the entry level pile for sure.
