OK ! Cabin fever from being snowed in is really setting in when I stoop this low to show what I did to a $189.00 plus 1 mag & a 325 rnd. brick of .22's that I got on this past Black Fri. sale

First I cut and crowned the barrel to a 16 1/2" length for a better balance for me.

Then I did a trigger job for a 3 1/2 # pull. Polished all internals.
    Modified the bolt release
Secured the firing pin up and down movement with a roll pin put length wise in the pin, bolt slot.
Cut a slot in the stock so the safety button didn't have to be put in the middle position when removing the barreled action from the stock.

And I didn't like the wrap around barrel band and I didn't like the abrupt step down if the band is removed, so I modified the band for a more appealing to me look.

I think I'll shoot this in the next steel plate match I compete in
As it stands with a full 10 rnd. mag it weighs 4 3/4 #. Have to figure out what I can paint it with that will stick on a polymer stock, and turn it over to the grand kids

Awesome. I love everything you did. The notch for the safety is brilliant.

      Ditto what he said^^^
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

22s rule! Cool, inexpensive mods. I'm going to steal the safety button/stock mod! Thanks!
Remember Muggsy. RIP Salty Dog. And the Tman

Enjoy, but a word of advice. I had to cut the slot a little forward of the button. Because as you lift out the action you have to move it forward to clear the rear of the stock shelf for the rear of the action.
            Am I making sense ?

Oh ! You better hurry before I file for a patent.

Nice work. I don't have your talent but I do have a credit card. Those Ruger 10/22's are like AR's when it comes to aftermarket parts.
I am afraid to add up what I spent building my grandsons 50th anniversary model. Sitting in my La-Z-Boy with the gun in my lap while watching Jesse Stone reruns makes it worth every penny although during the last hour of the show I switch to my 1911.

Next to Lonesome Dove I think Monte Walsh is one of the best cowboy movies ever made.

And I'll never tire of Jesse Stone, hope they make a 100 more.

Yes especially when Monte said those immortal words to Shorty after he shot him " I rode the bay down Shorty. You had to sit him high"

I understand the bay is a horse, but what does it mean "You had to sit him high"? Sitting straight and tall in the saddle?

I believe he meant he sat further up on the withers. When he threw on the saddle he cinched it down as far foreward as he could. Less impact as the rump bucked up.
