  • Semiauto civilian SAW for $7,999?

Anyone going to take the plunge? A fellow on the Colt Forum bought one.

        Me too.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I had go look that up. I think the interweb said that is a 5.56. That round looks biggef than that, like a 7.62.

Before I went to Germany in 1983 I had the hots for an M60. I think that they were about $4,500 then... FULL AUTO! I was worried about what I could do with it while overseas for 3 years.

I can't imagine paying that much for less than full auto! I know that machine guns prices went into the stratosphere with the GCA 0f '86 because no new ones could be made for the civilian market, or something like that.

Dang! you could probably "build" a 10/22-based one for less than a grand and save a lot of money!

What I'd really like is the Marine Corps version of the SAW, the HK M27, based on the HK416. The M249 is a heavy thing compared to the HK. Belt feed is cool though I have to admit.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

After shooting on in the military with full auto, I don't think I could even think about gef tting one for $8K in semi.

Even if I could afford it!

Eight grand and it comes in a cardboard box? You'd think they'd include a decent case for that.

If you have that kind of money to spend on toys, go for it. I'm happy to have enough for a box of ammo after all the bills are paid.

Belt fed??? Seems wallet fed to me.

Cool as that looks, I think Id be happy with some lesser toys for a lot less money.

                        "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?

I will say that is one of the best autos I've ever had the pleasure to shoot. I'm sure it would be fun in a semi version but not for that kind of bucks. For those who have shot the full auto version I'm pretty sure most would agree.

Man, makes me almost wish I was still active duty!
