Any one here have a Mech-Tech CCU for a Glock ? If yes and you have one with a welded on iron stock and feel the LOP is too long, I can show you how to shorten it

OH SH&T ! I was reading your your OP, and especially # 9 about your extractor. The same thing with the extractor breaking happened to me. But not with good results.
They fixed mine and then sent it back. But didn't notify me that they were doing so. So after a while I called them to find out the status. They said they shipped weeks ago. I told them I never received it. I was told to contact Fed-x, I did and spoke with the driver who I knew. They said they delivered it.
Found out that Mech-Tech didn't insure the parcel which wouldn't have mattered because insurance is only good while in transit. Once package is delivered insurance expires. I think if they had done a "signature required" this wouldn't have happened.

So I found another old unit with a welded on butt stock on consignment at a gun shop. This is the wife's unit. I have one a 1911 which uses a Par-Ordnance P14 lower. 17 rnds of fun. They've both been used in Steel Plate matches and are really accurate out to 100 yds.

She never liked the longer length of pull over a 1911 was on it. We even tried the Mech-Tech with a stock like yours. It was still too long. I was able to get a 14 1/2" LOP from trigger to butt like a 1911 unit for her, with my mod.

Here's a vid of her shooting her Mech-Tech out at about 75 yds. Notice the really long LOP, it's really uncomfortable

Well shoot, I don't have a Mech-Tech of any flavor, but I want to know how to shorten the length of pull on them.

out of curiosity i measured about 14 1/4 from the short trigger on the r1.
so yeah, tell us how you shortened it, inquiring minds need to know!

OK here goes. I should have been more discriptive. The butt stocks we have are for older Mech-Techs. I don't thing they make these welded on stocks anymore. But these are what we prefer for comfort. I never liked collapsabe stocks and even on Glock units they're still to long even when fully collapsed.

I don't know why the Glock frames are placed further forward then a 1911 is



The first thing was to cut off the stock from the tube and smooth out the welds.



Then cut the top rail at the narrow section to 7 1/4" and using a square to line up with the bottom rail.
I allowed an additional 1/8"longer on the bottom rail so I could cut the end it into the shape of a tab. The bottom rail with it's curve measures 8 1/4"



Then I welded a short piece at the cut off end of the butt stock behind the tab to box it in.

The cut tab fits into a slot on the bottom of the receiver tube

Then I drilled a hole through the back of the receiver and through the welded in piece for a bolt and nut







The plastic inserts were cut for a tight fit against the back of he receiver tube
