I don't know if Apple has something similar. I doubt if Linux does. I've used Linux some, and it does pretty well and day to day tasks. But it some things require a bit more computer knowledge than many of us possess. And many Windows based programs just won't work with it.

Well, that was after Windows 95 was released, so it would it would have been the same thing back then. I don't know why they want to snoop in my computer, nothing of interest on it.
I really do like Linux, it's not a bad OS, and it's free. Browsing the Internet, and emailing are pretty easy. It has a lot of apps that you can add for various things, it's just a little bit too technical for most people. And Mac's are out of my price range. I usually build my own tower so that I can match the components better than on many of the computers you buy.
E-machines was notorious for putting in a speedy processor and bragging about how fast it was, then choking it down with a small amount of slow memory and old slow outdated motherboards.

I know a number of people that work for the NSA. I'm pretty sure they have no interest in my computer. A couple have fixed some computer problems for me and all of them are smarter than me. I doubt they'll learn anything they already don't know. John, Tanya, Bill... you there?

There is nothing on my computer worth their time or trouble, I'm just a nobody, but I suppose they could use this to snoop around political enemies, reporters, or conservative organizations computers. Certainly someone that would be worth the time and trouble.
That's like them keeping all those email and phone records and crap, they don't have time to sit around and read emails and crap, it just gets fed into other computers to search for keywords.

If Dell and HP customer support can access your computer from India (I've had them do it), I'm sure anyone with the right tools and knowledge can too.
