  • Waste of Taxpayer's Money

Did anyone here this report on NPR's "All Things Considered"? I was surprised they were actually talking about government waste. Very interesting and frustrating at the same time.

Sickening. Every single one of the 535 ass-hats in Congress needs to be sent home so we can start from scratch. GOOOH is the right idea.

Millions grow into billions that grow into trillions. Pretty soon you're talking real money. But, hey, were the richest country in the world and only half of our people are contributing to that wealth. What's to worry? (Said with tongue firmly implanted in cheek.)

Imagine how rich we'd be if everyone contributed (?) That's the core of "Trickle-down Economics": get more people contributing and you increase tax revenues, more people are happy and working, there's more $$ to help those who really need it, everyone wins... Obummer is pushing for the exact opposite which, through the same logic results in -- everyone loses.

This is the key to why we want government involved in as little as possible: "If Congress appropriates the money, they will spend it," Sopko says.

Actually experienced this first hand once -- the local RTA was appropriated some $$ to build a new facility. They chose a plat zoned residential. We found them some better, less expensive options but they refused -- basically because it didn't spend all the $$$.

Waste it all now -- ask for more -- it's how the public sector works

I worked with a building manager that had worked for the government. He was replacing some thing that was perfectly fine. I asked him why we replacing that and he says this place is just like the Govt. If you don't spend all the money they allocate to you, then they cut your budget next year just like the Government.

Same with the military...use all your allotment (fuel, ammo, whatever) or you won't get as much next time.

I envision a day will come when these livin' large government folks will be pulled out of their offices and shot on the spot by mobs of citizens that just hit the boiling point. It happens all over the world at one time or another. Egypt twice within a year, Libya, etc.
I would say not in my lifetime, however.:75:

I gave up on NPR long ago. Far to liberal and politically correct.

That is why I usually refer to it as National Propaganda Radio.

Many many years ago I used to contribute because of our local jazz and classical and for the news. But they kept moving things around, then pretty much put jazz on the back burner, then became very left leaning on most of the news. I stopped contributing long ago, but still listen occasionally. I still like the BBC World News and The World (to hear a different perspective) and also Market Place.

And I don't feel bad I don't contribute because I do... through my tax dollars... which I would rather they not have anyways.

I usually tune into NPR when KFBK (station that has Fox News) is playing commercials. I hate commercials to the point I would rather listen to Propaganda Radio.

Definitely one hand not talking to the other.

There was another story floating around off all the stuff we are leaving behind. Not just empty ammo boxes but whole vehicles. Since there is no real rail or highway system and only one decent seaport I guess its suposidly cheaper just to leave it behind.
