In Indiana, police officers are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. The law was enacted after the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that the public had no right to resist unlawful entry into their homes by police and other public servants.
The law was passed after lobbyists showed concern that the Supreme Courts decision, allowed public servants to illegally enter homes without a warrant.
I sure don't want to see police officers shot, and I hope and pray that this law is never put to the test, but I also don't want officials thinking they have the right to invade someone's home at will, without warrant or any reason needed, except maybe in cases of pursuit of a criminal who has sought refuge in a home. In which case I doubt they'd be denied entry anyway, and probably still have the right to enter the home to pursue the criminal.
