        Minor V Happersett?

That is an interesting case to bring up in regards to the natural born citizen thing since that had nothing to do with the case. Nor was it "decided" in the ruling of this case. It was however mentioned in passing.

          It should be:

          1. Born in the United States of America (born a citizen) to parents who are legal residents
          or
          2. Born to a father and mother both who are U.S. citizens regardless of place of birth.

The current pres shouldn't qualify because he was born in Kenya believe it or not
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

            Why should it be so?

Is one parent not enough? I do believe the founding fathers thought one parent was enough, and I believe they did not specify as to which parent because I believe England did specify that the Father held sway.

The United States doesn't recognize dual citizenship. I was born Canadian but am a naturalized US citizen. I have both a Canadian and US passport. I have to use (and am proud to) use my US passport to travel in and out of the US. Every immigration employee I've ever spoken wit about it says the US doesn't "officially" recognize dual citizenship but that one cannot renounce their birth right.

If Cruz were a D, his citizenship would never have been brought up.

I kind of understand what you're saying but I don't think many people today value what our founding fathers valued.

I just feel like they need more skin in the game. If we allow the one parent and born out of country case why not just require naturalization? Let former Governor Arnold from california run for pres. if he wants.

All that being said I'm not too happy with most of the native born ones we have in office now either.

                      Divert from seriousness:

In a high school civics class, they were discussing the qualifications for becoming President of the United States. The requirements are pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen and at least 35 years old.
A blonde girl in the class piped up and began complaining about how unfair it was to require the candidate to be a natural born citizen. In her opinion, that made it impossible for many qualified people to run for the office. She went on and on, wrapping up her argument with "What makes a natural born citizen more qualified to be President than one born by C-Section?"

I was born by Cesarean section, otherwise I'd be sitting in the White House right now. This natural born stuff has me depressed.
