Easy to say "aye" when it's not your family's well being that depends on it.

Yes you are right. If we all have that attitude though we will wake up socialist. Always going to be people on the wrong end of the stick, fact of life. I work for big oil, you don't think liberals threaten my job?

I'm sorry some will pay for this but I'll be more sorry if we let these democrats run wild. What shall you expect of us?

          Aye

I plan to make some big money on this shutdown. Dumped all my stocks a few months back and now getting ready to buy back in when the market tanks. Should clear at lest 50k.

Are you sure about that....I thought police were considered "essential employees" and therefore not affected.

At various times in my life I've had to get by on a single income. Never took one penny of assistance. You will learn to get by on a single income too, Warbird1.

We were basically single income from the time our kids were born. Didn't have kids to have someone else raise em. Wife stayed home.
When they got in school she found jobs that coincided with their hours or evenings and weekends.

Now they are grown she does more and more. She works here at the PD part time now but even she can't handle the Violets around here. Just texted she got home today with a gut ache, hates this place, has to get out of here.
Told her don't even think about it just quit.
I don't have that luxury but I do have that choice. Soon as we get a real pres and things start to improve I'll find something different.
I know, I know I might be here till I'm 84 but oh well.

Same exact thing here. Only one kid left at home and wife is turning in her notice on her part time job. She likes what she does but not who she works with. She gets stressed 2 days before going in and it takes 1 day to get over working.

Maybe 3-5 years and I can do something new too I hope. Just cant figure out what I want to do.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I can't figure out what I want to be when I grow up

I'd like to do something on my own. No paperwork, no book keeping, no coworkers, no management, no boss's. Definitely absolutely no Violets.

Something where I don't have to deal with people, customers, suppliers, OSHA, TSA, EPA or BATF.

I'm thinking about a flag pole painter. But could be kind of crappy in the winter time, and hot in the summer and I'm skeered of heights.

                        The search continues.

I'm looking forward to my wife quitting more than she is I think, hate to see her suffer needlessly. I don't have a choice so I just man up and take the abuse. I offered to go in and quit for her, save a trip. Haven't heard back from her yet.

I'm a little late, but Aye. Particularly if they keep it closed long enough to not have a deficit this year. Once it is closed long enough, we'll have plenty of work arounds for any inconvenience. You can count on Americans to innovate their way around a locked up government.

I agree with the sentiment of your post. I also expect my government to be the poster child for stability.
