  • First they purged current officers, now dead ones?

Army War College apparently is considering getting rid of portraits of Confederate generals.

"...we have quite a few Confederate images,” she said, adding that the portraits were rehung on a third-floor hallway. “[Lee] was certainly not good for the nation. This is the guy we faced on the battlefield whose entire purpose in life was to destroy the nation as it was then conceived. This is all part of an informed discussion.”

Is that a veiled reference to 0bummer?

    They're trying to hide/change history.

Or... is it that they don't want anyone to get any ideas from Lee????
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I guess it's ok to destroy the nation as it was conceived, if you got the majority vote.

Many would argue that the Confederacy was the side fighting to keep the nation what it was conceived, a union of states with rights. It was the Northern side that wanted to make it an authoritarian centralized power and take power away from the states.

There was slavery dating back to the time of the pyramids. It was the norm for the day. I'm not saying that it was right or good, just that it was. The Southern state were largely agricultural and felt that slavery was necessary. Our nations first president was a slave owner. The North thought that slavery should be abolished and that difference of opinion led to war. The South felt that the federal government was becoming oppressive and wanted to secede from the Union of States. Of course, the winners of every conflict get to write the history and the liberals get to rewrite it.

The Secesh weren't trying to destroy the northern states, they were defending their own country, the CSA. That's why I usually refer to the "Civil War" as the "War for Southern Independence".

It's too bad Texas made the mistake of joining the Confederacy instead of following Governor Sam Houston's request that if if our great state was going to secede, then just reorganize the Republic of Texas and let the Confederates take on the Yankees.

Sam Houston (former commander of the Texas Army and victor over the detested tyrant President & General Santa Anna of Mexico, the first elected President of the Republic of Texas and former Senator in DC) opposed secession as governor, but was kicked out of the Governor's office & mansion after he refused to take the oath of allegiance to the Confederacy.

God Bless Texas and General Sam Houston!

It doesn't bother me that the schools don't teach about the wars. What bothers me is that they don't teach the Constitution. The kids of today don't even understand what's being taken away from them. Namely, their freedom and independence.

The War College is there to teach individuals how to command fighting armies and how to win battles and wars in so doing.

To omit R.E. Lee, J.E.B. Stuart, T.J. Jackson is to omit some of the greatest commanding officers this country has ever produced, and certainly some of the best war fighting commanders of all time.

It is a discredit to the War College to omit them.
