A couple called police to help deal with their schizophrenic son who had grabbed a screwdriver and refused to put it down. The first two cops had tasered the boy, and seemed to have the situation under control, when a 3rd cop arrived and announced that "we don't have time for this" and then shot the boy, killing him. http://bearingarms.com/southport-nc-...time-for-this/


The first two cops had the situation under control, and had gotten the boy calmed down (after tasering him) , when the 3rd cop walks in and decides to execute him, because "we don't have time for this". I guess the boy's father grabbed the 3rd cop before he could shoot again, but unfortunately the first shot was fatal.


What the hell is going on with crap like this. Cops are now judge jury and executioner? Seems that way sometimes.

The fact that he is 5'3" and 90 lbs doesn't mean much to me. What is the saying? Its not the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog??? something like that?

I'm sorry but "Picked up a screwdriver and refused to put it down" is journalistic malpractice.

Did he threaten to stab someone with it? If so, why not say it? Nothing in the article refers to any act or threat of violence on the kid's part, and they clearly want us to think he was just some innocent mentally challenged kid. Yet the dad called the cops? I ain't buyin' it.

Seems like the parents were wanting to take the boy in for a mental evaluation, and he grabbed a screwdriver and was threatening the parents, so they called the cops to help get him in the car. I'm sure they didn't expect the situation to turn out like it did.

The first unit on scene reported a confrontation in the hallway, but told Brunswick County Dispatchers several times that everything was OK. Unit 104 from Southport arrived on the scene at 12:48:41, fourteen minutes after the first officer had already been on scene. Seventy seconds later, Unit 104 radioed out that he had to fire shots at the subject in order to defend himself.

Defend himself from a 90lb boy pinned to the ground by two other officers after they had tased him???? What a crock of BS. Shows me that some cops will say anything to avoid being disciplined.

I did not post this because I hate cops or anything. I do hate it when they go and abuse their authority, as has been happening a little more often than I am comfortable with. Most of them are very good people, but these bad apples need to be dealt with.

Well, now we've heard one side of the story. Would it be presumptuous of me to ask why you didn't wait to hear both sides of the story before posting it? I don't care for dealing in speculation. If the facts presented in the story are true then the officer who shot the individual is in a world of trouble. If the story is inaccurate then he's not. Regardless of whether or not he's guilty he's just one officer. He isn't every police officer.
