    Re: The War on Poverty

Obama and the left are turning the country into a recipient state. Too many are far too willing to grab for handouts. Those receiving them will never vote away their freebies. If the tide isn't turned in November, I fear we're doomed.

The problem is that approximately 55% of the population pays no taxes and receives over 90% of the benefits. The remaining 45% of the population who is producing receive 10% of the goodies.

It is no surprise that the 55% sucking on the government teat are registered and vote Democrat, the remainder are Republican for the most part. When the majority sucks up the groceries the "D" pander to them in order to stay in office. Here is a newsflash. There are several counties in southern Texas that if they ever go "D" in the presidential elections an "R" will NEVER sit in the WH again.

LZ I think it's already too late and we will never again see another Republican in the WH because there's just too damn many liberals now that vote...That plus the Republicans can't seem to get their act together and come up with a decent electable candidate and spend most of their time fighting among themselves and the Tea Party.....

I fear the Hilldabeast will be elected in 2016 no matter what we do....Our best bet and only hope is to take back the Senate and keep the House in 2014 to try and keep her somewhat in control because I fear what she has in mind will make Obummer look like a right wing hawk conservative...

The Calli public schools TEACH this to the inner city students, as well as Nigeria and Russia teaching how to scam in the US and the resident of the peoples house encourages this by adding and rewarding this mentality!

Somewhere, there's a guy on this forum that would hit that! just sayin'

Churchs and community groups need to be the ones that take care of this, not the government. That way each group providing help could set the standards or rules for receiving help. With government doing it there is no accountability to the taxpayer.
I used to be on a government board that oversaw expenditures and was listening to a dept. head of HEALTH DEPARTMENT requesting another million for schools Dare type program. She was telling us all how great and visable it was and I asked why my kids in school district never mentioned it. I thought if it was SO GREAT SURELY MY KIDS WOULD OF SAID SOMETHING? All government always wants more money for more programs and nothing ends....just gimmie gimmie like it comes from bottomless pit. Results don't matter, it is job security for government workers.

The Democrats rent and fill buses with losers, get them to the voting area, and hand out free cigarettes, and burger coupons............you gotta hand it to em.......why don't Republicans do these kind of things? When it comes to getting your party elected, there's no such thing as embarrassing?

                      Re: The War on Poverty

Problem is with both parties. Democrats are off the rails with their socialist agenda and the Republican party, it's leadership and old guard, is equal parts impotent and inept. Until a third party, a conservative party, rises to trumpet American values of commitment, hard work, dignity, FREEDOM. Well, until then... we're doomed.

As to the OP... I can't tell you how many reports I took in the Bronx where people on welfare had bigger TV's than me or nicer cars, jewelry, etc...

Welfare may certainly be necessary for those needing to get back on their feet. Only it wasn't meant to be prosthetic legs with a lifetime of rehab. System's broke and the left likes it that way.

What I'm hearing from the members of this forum restores my faith in humanity and encourages me to believe that our country will survive. The tide is turning. Encourage the like minded to vote for the most conservative candidate who has a chance of winning in the next election. That's how you turn a country around.

The problem is not only getting like minded conservatives to vote for a conservative candidate but finding a candidate the does not just run as a conservative but will have the fortitude to stand on their conservative morals and principles and vote accordingly.

To many run as conservatives then vote down party lines as directed by the party leadership instead of will of the conservative constituents that elected them. I am sick and tired of the so called conservatives folding to party leadership pressures.

When we can we find people of this caliber maybe we can then take our country back! I will not vote republican just because the person is running as a conservative.

Agreed. Well said. And that's why I'm proud to say that I voted for Ted Cruz to be one of my Senators from Texas. The man says what he believes and then he *fights* for it. An old-fashioned man of principle, and we could use about 99 more like him in the Senate.

Of course, I only voted for him once, since I'm not a Democrat.
