I haven't watched a single minute of the coverage this time around. I can't honestly say why ... I just haven't been as interested as I used to be in the past.

I like the downhill skiing, snowboarding, and jumping events. I did watch some of the luge competition, especially the women's.

I can relate to the alpine skiing as I have done a bit of that... Austria(several schools), West Germany, Maine, Canada(Quebec and Montreal), New Mexico, and Washington state. I've ruptured both shoulders' rotator cuffs in bad falls. I liked going fast but didn't have great skill and slowing/stopping was hard sometimes.

I haven't skied since we were in Maine and Wifey went to Korea for a year. Our last time on the slopes was Winter '89/'90, I believe. I doubt that I'll ever ski again... too expensive. I don't think that our skis would be worth resharpening at this point after 23 years of non-use.

Snowboarding caught on after we left the slopes. I don't think the two methods would mix well, especially with the initial young bunches that were too reckless and unconcerned with respecting others. I could probably do better on those, though, but would have to learn again and buy/rent the equipment. And... pushing 68 is not the best age to take that up.

You do realize Sarah never said that about seeing Russia from her house? That was Tina Fey doing Sarah on Saturday Night Live.

It's amazing how we so easily fold one liners into the reality of celebrities. Whether True or false is irrelevant.

Snopes has a couple of clips there, too, and I had to watch the Sarah Palin & Hillary clip from SNL... funny.

Vancouver kinda did it for me. Olympians are becoming like the NFL, NBA, MLB...only with less maturity. Bad behavior, bad attitudes. I don't think its because of the whole amateur vs pro argument. I think its just the degradation of society and that its all on TV now. But between the lack of being well spoken in interviews, the constant media stories about them all 'hooking up' in the Olympic village, etc. I'm just sick of it. Haven't watch a single minute of it this year, and probably won't.

Was sitting at my computer minding my own business, watching old Archie Bunker clips on Utube, and wifey came in and asked if we could put the Olympics on.

Was at the health club tonight and NBC was showing the captivating sport of Olympic curling. Now, they're showing that ice dancing stuff.

All my kudos to the Olympians of all the sports....... but seriously. So much of the primetime viewing being taken up by figure skating in the winter O's and gymnastics in the summer.

Message for the networks. Let the Spike channel in on the next O's. Have >30% of the viewing time showing actual competition, no personal story segments, and cater it to men. (Very limited gymnastics and figure skating.....but women's beach volleyball is okay

Will have the best viewer ratings in >20 yrs.
