Am I the only one who gets a good ole belly laugh out of hearing/reading about the debacle that is the ACA. Frankly the more horror stories I read/hear the more I laugh and the better I like it. Elections have consequences and I have less than zero sympathy for those carping about it and who are worse off under ACA than before. Maybe next time those folks will make better voting choices. The ACA cannot collapse quickly enough. Until then I will be laughing.

Nope, you are not the only one. I think the state of it all is absolutely hysterical. It makes it all the more funny when the media calls it Obama's signature accomplishment. With accomplishments like that, who needs success. I just hope I live long enough to see history put him and all his crap where it belongs.

I live in the healthcare world and have been saying/warning about it for the past couple od years. Everything I had heard has indeed come to fruition. BUT the worst of it hasn't even hit the horizon yet.....
Based on the actuary's and the shift in Medical practices/Hospitals. We, will as taxpayers be bailing out more than we had for the automakers and the banks, in the very near future....

Yup, this is the part of all of this that scares me and I don't find funny. The cost. The upcoming cost. I'm an ex-industry guy, moved in a different career direction, but very familiar w/ the actuarial side of this and very very sure of myself as to where its headed. Plus, any actuary that is being honest will tell you the same thing. It's coming. When it does there are only 2 options. One, dump it completely and start back where we were before. Two, what you said, dump more tax dollars into it to bail the insurance companies out. The former is VERY unlikely, the regulations and mess that's been created have made it almost IMPOSSIBLE for insurance companies to back-pedal into rates that will keep them where they need to be to remain financially stable. The ride ain't over either way, not by a long shot. It went down this way by design. This was NOT an accident or byproduct of incompetence. Nobody. Nobody. Is that stupid.

A friend from HS is the chief actuary of one of the big named insurance companies. He tells me that since the young are not signing up in anywhere the numbers needed the rates for seniors will skyrocket several hundred percent and what is actually covered will decline by 75% or more. Since seniors as a group have among the highest percentage of voting activity this sets up a VERY UGLY generational battle between the young and the old. He feels that in the long run the seniors will loose and loose big.

If/When the insurance companies get into trouble it is almost a sure fire certain bet that the government will NOT bail them out like they mistakenly bailed out the banking system and the auto manufacturers. We saw how poorly that turned out and I do not see a repeat.

I cannot add to this thread because it has already been well said. I wish I can find the humor in all this LZ. I just get a sick feeling when I think about it.

What makes anyone believe that ACA is going away. The libs will just keep throwing more of your money at it until it works. The goal isn't to provide the nation with healthcare. The goal is the redistribution of wealth and the subjugation of the people. The establishment Republicans don't want to repeal government healthcare they only want to find something to replace it. It's a shell game. No government program ever ends. Occasionally the rename them, but they still allow them to grow. We are still paying a tax for the electrification of the rural South.

yep...It will not go away IMHO. Too much $ spent on it by everyone. The ACA is clinically dead but CPR will continue long after all signs of life have gone. No one will call the time of death.

It may not go away but will be radically different animal as more and more folks realize what a boondoggle it is. No sooner was it passed before the liberals started making changes. I really bet when they get hammered in the midterms the changes will become a waterfall.

Changes to what? Single payer? Not sure what it can metamorphose into.

There have been over 27 major structural changes to he program. Dates pushed back, exceptions made etc. As to single payor I don't see that changing unless the entire program is scraped. Many doctors, hospitals, doctors, clinics and health care providers are opting out or flat out refusing ACA patients. The group my personal physician practicies I has signs stating no ACA accepted. Hopefully it will fall apart on its own.
