LZ, I understand "get off you butt and get the law changed", but how does that help someone already charged with a crime? I look at jury nullification as the very last resort to prevent a miscarriage of justice. I don't buy your argument about being all in or all out. I don't have to be consistent. I CAN pick and choose which cases I would like to see the jury nullify. And I can either agree or disagree with the decisions of the jury. I'm not bound by anything that says I either have to agree with ALL or NONE of the jury nullifications.
I'm sorry they let the rapist walk, I don't see how anyone could think she had it coming even if she was dressed provocatively, or was coming on to the rapist or whatever reasons they chose. In that case, we'd be free to rape women at the beach in swim suits. Especially the ones that barely cover anything. I thought that No means NO, no matter how you are dressed. I guess the jury thought otherwise.

The vagaries of jury nullifications are why I am all out. You get off your butt BEFORE you get into trouble. Folks who cry injustice after they are in trouble are subhumanoid mongrels since they did not take positive and presumptive action beforehand. If you wait until you are in trouble to complain I hope they get put under the prison if for no other reason than abject stupidity/laziness.

There was quite a public outcry over this, yet the lawmakers ignored them. Citizens testified against the bill, and fought it tooth and nail, yet it was still passed.

As for the kid busted with the knife in his EMT training vest, how do you go about changing those kind of laws? Sounds like they were making stuff up as they went along.

And we have been trying for years to make medical marijuana available to people undergoing chemo, and for AIDS patients, and those that it helps. Unfortunately my state is a very conservative bible-thumping state, and the lawmakers don't have the guts to introduce any legislation to legalize it for medical purposes. Therefore if I was on a jury of someone that got busted for possession while on chemotherapy, I'd vote not guilty no matter what the evidence was. It's justice, not legality, that I am into. Legalities are often made at the request of a relatively few people to address a concern they have. And result in such laws as keep off the grass, no parking in front of a house you are not visiting, and silly things like that.
