I held off judging him because he'd been misquoted and misinterpreted pretty much every time he said something that sent thrills up leftists' legs. But this makes me want to puke.

On Friday, Francis called for the United Nations to promote a "worldwide ethical mobilization" of solidarity with the poor in a new spirit of generosity.

He said a more equal form of economic progress can be had through "the legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the state, as well as indispensable cooperation between the private sector and civil society."

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Jesus did NOT say, "If you don't want to be perfect, the Romans shall confiscate your treasure, squander it on bureaucracies, get the poor addicted to handouts, and then you may enter the kingdom of heaven."

What's always bothered me is, if you give all your money to the poor, how are they supposed to enter heaven? Now they have to give it to someone.

It would be easy to think like that if you didn't have to work for a living, lived in a gimongous mansion free of charge, had servants out the ying yang to provide for your every want and need and even had your own private army to protect you all off the backs of your parishioners using religious guilt to collect money from them to keep up the status quo of the church....I say let the genorosity start with him...go gather up all the gold and riches held by the Vatican and give it all away to the poor then talk about having the UN play Robin Hood with the rest us....

I have never understood why followers of Christ needed gold, silver, and fine clothing. Or million dollar mansions for that matter. I couldn't agree with the sentiment of your post more...
