I respectfully disagree with you on the 2A matter. While pandering for votes is very real, the conservative movement has always been pro gun since I can remember.

I have to agree with you 100%. They have wandered so far to the extreme right everything looks left to them. I think it's because they missed the bus and became know as the party of the old white guys. They had to get votes somewhere, so they put together a patchwork quilt of angry single issue voters who have little in common. You got the regular right wing of the republican party plus the gun guys, the religious nuts and the racist. If they don't change their message their going to lose whats left of the republican moderates.

And who are the moderate republicans going to vote for John, the liberal socialist democrats? The democrats win with a patch work quilt of single issue voters all of whom have their hands out. You had better rethink your position John or we could see another eight years of Obama. There is nothing extreme in running the government as outlined by the Founding Fathers in our Constitution guided by Judeo-Christian ethics. You sound like you've been brainwashed by the media.

As long as Reid, Pelosi, Biden and Obama are the top Democrats, I'll find it impossible to believe that the Republican party has gone so far right that everyone just appears way left.

I know a very little about some religions, a little about a few religions, and quite a bit about Christianity. I do not think any religion has got it right. But, there are a several aspects of Christianity that convince me they for sure do not.

With that in mind: Supposedly, the devil is Satan, an angel created by God and cast out of heaven. But, if I believe the Christian God does not exist, then Satan does not exist and therefore he cannot be in my heart.

Muggs, I generally agree with a lot of what you say; however, I think you are a bit reaching with that conclusion. Many people who do not believe in G-d still feel world hunger, torture, slavery and murder to be wrong. The Bible doesn't say it is wrong to let a 2 year old play with a loaded Kahr P40 but we innately know it is still wrong to do so. Wrong and immoral are sometimes not mutually inclusive. Perhaps this is fodder for another thread..........

I am not saying that a higher power does not exist, it very well may.
I am saying that I cannot accept the Christian version of that higher power. And the heaven vs. eternity in hell concept is one of the main reasons.
