An extremely painful, but rarely fatal disease, spread by mosquitos, is popping up in Florida. My guess is another "gift" from immigrants.
Chikungunya or breaking bone disease (named breaking bone disease because the pain feels like your bones are breaking) has been found in parts of Florida.
There is currently no cure, treatment, or vaccination for it. Doctors are only able to ease the painful symptoms.
It is expected to spread about the same way West Nile virus spread. They say to be sure and use insect repellant with DEET in it to keep mosquitos from biting, wear long sleeved shirts and pants, and take the normal precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Also eliminate any places mosquitos breed where ever possible. One of the types of mosquitos that carry the virus is capable of living through cold weather, so it could travel to about anywhere in the USA.
Not that we need anything else to worry about, But I hought I would warn those living in, or traveling to Florida.
