1) I'm not surprised that Common Core is a tool for the leftist agenda.
2) Yet I think the article reads a lot into Dr. Pook's comments. All he said was that poor kids deserve the same chance to learn as any others.
3) Common Core is just another example of how our society tries to misguidedly fix the result and not the cause. The problem isn't the standards. The problem is that some parents are not involved in raising their children or supporting the educational system. This leads to disruptive classrooms and a culture where learning simply cannot happen.

That comment about parents is spot on. My wife is an elementary school teacher and some of the worst performing and behaving kids have a slug for a parent. There are rarely 2 parent homes in her school's area.

Absolutely! Being a "parent" doesn't mean you've finished your part by bringing a child into the world. It's just the starting point in turning that child into something everyone can be proud of.

I'm not really happy with some of the teachers and administrators either. A lot of leftist have infested the school system all the way up to the university level and are filling the student's heads with their agenda.

Examples of how common core is superior to what we learned...

Regular math: 2 + 2 = 4

Common Core math: 4 = 10 - the sum of 3 squared + 1 + the suns angle over the equator June 1st - the angle of the sun on the opposite side of the earth one year later + 5 squared - 10 -10 -1 = 2 + 2

Common Core clearly will be a tremendous help to little Dontavius trying to do his homework alone....Too bad the "White Devil" held him back for so long...

WTF!? is "white privilege"? the only "privilege" I've ever noticed was the privilege of wealth (better food, better schools, better connections, better cash and property). money(privilege) comes from 3 sources-- inheritance, marriage, work. good luck.
